Let's see what the pundits say. Will Garmin unleash Tyler Farrar???????for a chance to win, or will they keep all their guns in reserve to protect Ramondas??!!!!!!!!!!Anyway, if Manx'Man's SKY could take him thru the little hill unscattered, it's his call.............I guess

Does anyone know which the correct course is? The Gazzetta profile shows a 200 + km stage with a bumpy hill towards the end, but the preview shows 199km with a single hill? (assume it is the latter)

GreenEdge could be the team to watch if Cav is in trouble although unless he is climbing really badly then GreenEdge's numbers could be depleted too if the pace on the front is dropping people.

fortunately they take the hilly way along the coast - it's a bit too far away from the finish but there will be lots of opportunities to atttack and everyone who gets dropped on the GPM will struggle to get back into the field.

The 199km profile is the old one, it was modified some time ago:

Enough time for Cav to get back on? Or could it be a sprint for Gossy?

I don't like to do this on forums, but do you really need this much punctuation?

Gotta be Cav. He seems to be on fine form, and Sky should be able to control the race for him. Unless of course somebody else does a Ferrari and takes him or other sprinters out.

Personally, I just want to see a sprint finish without the crashes we've seen in the last two bunch sprints.

So considering Cav and Goss go into this favourites what are the chances of one of them ending up in pink.

Cav is currently a 39 seconds so a win today and tomorrow would see him in pink.
Goss is currently closer and only needs 30 sec so for him a win tonight and a 2nd tomorrow would see him in pink. I don't think he could win 3 from 3 but a 2nd to cav and then a win is possible.

Looking at the profile I don't see cav getting dropped on the hills so will come down to how well he is feeling after the crash and how he reacts if there is a bunch of movement coming into the sprint. He looked good in the TTT but that doesn't equate to a full sprint.

Tomorrow might be a different story, possible it will be a big bunch sprint but wouldn't be surprised to see splits.

Cav's "climbing" has been quite terrible this season, but I don't think this little hill is enough to drop him unless there are some serious attacks. If the likes of Gasparotto, Ballan, Visconti and Pozzato try to get away the finish could be interesting though.

Do you seriously think Cav will win a stage with montelupone and other hard hills in it?

Definitely a cav or goss stage, as long as cav doesn't let goss start the sprint before him cav can wrap it up

Personally I think the opening post for a stage should be a bit more throughout than this even though it looks like a pretty boring stage on paper.
At least it can be expected that normal punctuation is used I think.

Anyway, here's the profile:

I don't know how "lumpy" these hills are, but to me it looks like we could see some try to get away here and perhaps even succeed like someone mentioned. A lot of Italians will want to show themselves off now that we're in Italy and furthermore, it doesn't take that much effort to try and get away on the hills as they're pretty close to the finish line.

With the form he has been on I seriously doubt it. I was thinking along these lines before I saw tomorrows stage, thought there was another 2 basically flat stages. And we I said I didn't see him getting dropped i was talking about today.

But if it isn't raced hard I can see Goss hanging on tomorrow, and if he is there I don't think anybody will beat him.

WindLessBreeze i edited your original post to make it an acceptable race thread.

please the next time you decide to open one make sure you choose and appropriate race tittle and you post the stage route and profile.

if he isn't battered too much after his crash on monday he should be able to hang on - and even if he loses a couple of seconds he still has a good team to help him in this situation. He looked okay yesterday, I think he will be there for the sprint.

btw, I don't see this Cav vs. Goss battle some of you expect for the remaining sprint stages. Of course, Goss delivered the results, but his sprint didn't look overly impressive to me. There will be other contenders as well.

It may be a crashfest again today, why don't they just finish the stage down at the beach?! No, they have to find corners, roundabouts and plateaus inside the last 2k after going straightforward for 15km priorly...

Could see Farrar getting second here, particularly if they could use the hill to make it hard for Cav. Would that still put him in pink? Surprised noone but the OP is mentioning him when he's a good sprinter @10" on GC.

Sky should be able to close the gap if Cav is dropped. Hope Garmin and the OGREs force the pace so at least the final 30 km could be interesting.

Beppu to get in a breakaway today or tomorrow.

He has been a vital part of the leadout i think he has actually been 3rd man (or even 2nd came 9th last sprinting stage) so they may be reluctant to let him go.

i've heard that on those little hills, the roads are very narrow...good for an attacker or more.i'm sure pippo pozzato and ballan will go there.some sprinters might have problems not because of the climb but because of the roads...
an italian sprinter will win today.
