And a Omloop win.

(Qatar TTT, Kreder domination.
Zabriskie at Lagkawi
And Dekker also count for something)
+ Talansky at Romandie

The phrase clutching at straws springs to mind...

I would rate the Omloop win above the TTT win and tbh I cant see many teams who have won better than that.

Congrats to Cav- he survived a very tough stage where Farrar/ Hushovd did not.

Goss was close but not enough ( he should have been on Cavs' wheel not behind Modolo ).

That wouldn't have made much difference, really. To beat Cavendish, Goss needs him to have been dropped, to get boxed in, or to be so knackered from the day's climbing that he has nothing left.

Very dull start to the Giro...seems they're headed in the same direction as TDF as far as designing stages. :(

FFS, they've had a TTT which rips your legs off, then a transition/sprinters' stage before heading into the Apennines. What do you want, The Dolomites every day?

Goss has no chance in a straight fight with Cav. Clearly the best of the rest though.

Someone else somewhere sometime ago wrote that Hushovd only really cares about two races, TdF and Roubaix. Maybe there is a tiny element of truth in that.
I think that's spot on. He's probably using the Giro as a training ride for the Tour, his form is obviously absolutely terrible. After a terrible spring, I think he's focusing on TdF and the Olympics. Which is a shame, because there are a few stages that suit him in the Giro.

Yes, plenty of people seem to want that. They then want the right to bemoan the fact that, as with last year's route, some of the world's best riders are then utterly screwed for the rest of the season.

It's a balanced route. We've created some gaps in GC and had a beautiful stage yesterday which was selective to a degree (and had many people predicting a win for a puncheur). And the sprints have been competitive and hard fought between the sprint teams. Had the wind blown in Denmark, we'd have had a really interesting start.

The race and parcours is going to build and build nicely, all to the way to Milan.

I think Thor has a good chance for stage 18 if he even is still in the race by that time.

He was not high in GC so i can understand the fact that he just let go in the ITT/ Stage 5.

I was not saying Goss was going t win ( i just said close )- begrudgingly ( and honestly ) Cav is the better sprinter.

Both the Olympic course and the WC course suits Thor very well this year, and as always he wants to be good in TdF. Then it goes without saying he cant peak for this Giro when he has already been on top for PR.

Personally I would have wanted him to peak at the Giro rather than for the TdF and instead used the TdF as a build up towards the Olympics, but I think he is expected to work hard for Evans and must bring some form for that reason.

That being said, he blamed the heat for yesterdays performance, and expected to go much better once adopted.

Even in the best form of his career Hushovd has precisely no chance on the Valkenburg Worlds course.
