farnese chasing too...now the breakaway has under 6 minutes

Viva Liquigas and Farnese-Vini, finally some real racing this Giro.

If the bunch is reduced or possibly shattered before the last 50k; then it could be the stage of the year, so many sharp, short hills to work with - some GC-hopefuls will be caught out.

I think/hope Visconti will take it.

Then fire him. BMC pays him money to race. Not wanting to go = work refusal.

At the very least they could leave him out of the Tour team, but I very much doubt they have the balls to do so.

Hushovd --> fatass with too high paycheck. Take what he get's a month, give it him per year, seems better

I'm quite sure Hushovd will be a different beast come July, the Tour and the Olympics...but honestly, what I find really irritating is the lack of respect for a GT like the Giro

Maybe Hushovd has a bug - always a danger on a flight transfer. He looked in reasonable shape in the first two sprints

For me it's a no brainer. He's an ex-sprinter in terrible form and he doesn't like helping anybody but himself. He's poison for the team atmosphere, unless he's the sole leader. When you have Evans for the overall and Gilbert for the stages, you don't need Hushovd. It's only worth it if his form is good, which it hasn't been so far.

Now, if he shows good form in Dauphiné/Suisse, I would reconsider.
