Nice finish for Hesjedal as well, small gaps count at this point, and the maglia rosa too. Don't think he'll have it for three weeks with some of the stages to come, but this is the kind of stage he can excel at.

Exciting last kilometer! Scarponi and Schleck looked really strong, but they are probably more suited to a climb like this than a guy like Basso. Anyway, considering their somewhat lacklustre form so far, it's promising.

rujano indredible today!dancing up the mountain like a butterfly. not even his kind of mountain. way too easy. tahts why he lost time to that whining b*** kreuziger. hes gonna lose minutes tomorrow lol. wait and see. rujano just soft pedaled up and still almost dropped everyone. amazing!were gonna see him destroy everyone soon. i said it a million times already.

Maybe he woke up and realized that this is the moment to step out of the shadow his ( presumably more talented ) brother has cast over his achievements recently. Imagine Frank wins the Giro and Andy predictably fails in the Tour - we might be talking about "Brother of Frank" rather than "Brother of Andy".

I had no idea that there were mountains that suited Schlecks ;)
