I know that I mentioned him in the opening post myself, but I'm curious why so many seem to have Phinney as the big favorite?

I mean this year he's shown absolutely nothing and last year he wasn't exactly that impressive either expect for in the Eneco Tour prologue and the very short Romandie prologue.

In my opinion there are a few bigger favorites than him.

He won the Trentino TTT practically on his own (granted, not against the best field) and he was 15th in Roubaix. I think he´ll do okay, at least top 5.

Alright, I didn't watch the Trentino TTT.
Anyway it'll be very interesting to watch almost all of the young time trial prodigies go head to head; Phinney, Bobridge, Kwiatkowski, Sergent. Throw in Rasmussen, Thomas and a few others and the field becomes very interesting.

When has Cavendish done well in a prologue longer than a few kilometres? He has done really well when it is just a couple but his performance does seem to drop off thereafter so going by that i would say it is too long for him. Thomas would seem a decent choice and should be very competitive.

Boom would stand a good chance if riding. Havent seen the Rabo team yet, does anyone know if he is taking part?

Bennati has been mentioned by others - if he can replicate his form from T-A then he will be up there

Orica GreenEDGE are on a high, they have had a great start to the season, just signed a naming sponsor and Goss has been oh so close after his hit out in Turkey with 4, 2nd place finishes. He may even have a red hot go at the prologue as they will be heavily targetting the TTT on Stage 4.

If he is not up for it then it is over to Bobridge who has to be on at least an even keel with Thomas, seeing as they have done very similar preps and even though Thomas took out the team time trial at the World Cup, Bobridge finished better in the individual taking the silver medal. I have a feeling they will give absolutely everything to introduce the new sponsor...who may possibly get to see them in the leaders jersey for 3 or 4 days.

What's Bobridge's track record in prologues? Not very good, I don't think.

Unfortunately the weather predictions are warm and dry weather with no winds in the 3 days the peloton is in the area.

The latest forecast I've seen says temperatures of 5-10°C and possibly a little rain.
Of course I'd prefer warm and dry myself, as I'm going to be at the roadside. ;)

Warm may be to stretch it a bit. DMI.dk seems to give the daily high as +6C and a northwesterly wind of 8 m/s for the first day.
DMI.dk
Yr.no

And check out the weather for stage 2:

Yr.no (I think they pass this place about halfway past the stretch beside the north sea?)

Only maybe 5-7 m/s but in a very nice angle for constructing echelons I would assume.

I know that stretch quite well and the winds from the North Sea can definitely create something, I just doubt it with these reasonable winds that are predicted. I do have to correct myself though. There's great chance of rain sunday. 1-3 mm.

But 9-13c is what I would call pretty optimal temperatures in May in Denmark. Which is what I've seen been predicted.

Fair enough. Let's hope for a bit more wind for Sunday's stage; if the stage was on Saturday it would be mayhem, 10-11 m/s coming directly in from the sea.

But things may change yet. Forecasting is tricky business.

 I wonder if there are some idiots who will bet on Basso or Schleck. Better to give money for some charity
