It's also why there shouldn't be an ITT at the penultimate stages

Excatly. TT's should be early in the race rather than late to make those who lost attack more and make racing itnresting.

But are Basso, Rodruigez and Scarponi really thinking they can take enough time out of Hesjedal and Roman on ONE mountain stage to make up for the TT? Cos this is a snoozefest :(

It would be good to see a Hesjedal attack again, and finish with a time difference on the others.
Hesjedal doesn't have to attack. He'll win the Giro as long as he's within a minute of everyone else on the last TT. At the moment he has a minute on most of the GC contenders already so he's far ahead of schedule.

If this defensive riding continues, Hesjedal will certainly win the giro easily.

the thing is, they can  the stelvio stage alone is most likely enough for that. it's not like they are some sort of cancellaras

Ridiculous as it may appear, everyone fears Basso and basically waits for him to make a move. Cant see round it.

Even a late TT would give an incentive for pure climbers to attack, to bank time against the bigger men..... right?

I know, but it would be fun to see the defenders face :D

At least Basso is isolated now, I love Szmyd but he doesn't exactly make racing interesting ;)

"Basso to make a move". Are they insane? Does Basso ever make a move? LOL
