Philippe Gilbert, Joaquim Rodriguez, Alejandro Valverde, Alberto Contador and Peter Sagan. The rest are all a level below. Only Sagan is missing. Valverde needed a GT in his legs after his ban. Phil needed a GT in his legs after what appears to have been a pretty bad winter preparation.

Uh, you need to get with the times. Enrico Gasparoto is right up there.

Gerrans races as smart as anyone. His palmares this year shows you don't always have to be the strongest, hell he's shown us you don't ever need to be the strongest!

He could win the Worlds.

He's a live contender.Interesting interview in Pro Cycling magazine with him earlier this year where he's basically saying he realises he's not the most stylish rider but he also knows he's got great race intelligence especially in the finale. Can't see him winning the Worlds but a podium contender for sure.Smart rider.

Perhaps, but he's got to show it more than once. Otherwise Jelle Vanendert is also right up there. Anyway, Gaspa was at this Vuelta though, but sadly crashed out.

Poor GVA, he looked good. I think Belgium will have a great WC team- but we all know that. Gerrans did very well and looked strong- i was surprised to see him win.

Costa is improving so much as a rider and is so consistent ( also on my CQ team so i am happy ).

Slagter did well, next year he should target F-W with Mollema.

Who are the best cyclists on uphill finishes?

Evans and LLS also feature.

He looked pretty strong to me and I agree, he will be one of the favourites for the Worlds and Aussie's number one rider.

Yes, i was there and saw him immediately after the finish rollinginto thehotel so assume he finished helping or trying to help Sagan in the finale.
Its tough to know whats going on when you are there, just seeing bits and pieces

CQ says he did not finish. You sure it was Moser?

Nonsense. He has been more of a hilly races stalwart than Vanendert. You just didn't notice.

I know he got third once in AGR, but he's a level below the guys I mentioned. And yeah, I don't notice someone finishing 35th in LBL or AGR. ;)

A bit surprising that Sky sent their guys up here only 2 days ago. That's not enough to get rid of the jet-lag. The long flight combined with said jet-lag probably caused EBH's very sensitive stomach to go wrong again.

He'll be fine for Montreal, though. His form is great as long as the stomach works. He's been absolutely flying in training lately and is actually in much better shape than Nordhaug who was fairly strong yesterday too.

This goes for every team, all the teams fly over together on a charter flight from Paris.

So a 3rd place in amstel one year and a victory in Amstel and a 3rd place in LBL isnt top level results?

Not really a decent uphill sprinter if you've almost never won something in an uphill sprint, no?

My list included cyclists that are just better than Gasparotto at uphill sprints. Deal with it.

There's hardly any jet lag for most people when going West.
