The winner will be an all rounder.
To be honest, I'm more surprised that there are actually bookmakers in the UK that know Paris-Nice exists

Bauke Mollema didn't show that much in Andalucia though, so I wouldn't name his as one of the top favourites.Dekker_Tifosi said:http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/martin-paris-nice-route-is-not-ideal-for-me
Tony Martin doesn't seem to believe much in his chances.
Favorites are for me Coppel, Taaramae, Valverde, Menchov and TGBM
He usually needs some racing under the belt to be good, he said towards the end of the week his form was coming along. Still not one of the top favourites for me, but that's more because of the course.maltiv said:Bauke Mollema didn't show that much in Andalucia though, so I wouldn't name his as one of the top favourites.

And anyway what i am on about is that you never see the odds displayed inside the bookies themselves in Ireland. I remember last year i had to ask over the counter in Paddy Power for the odds on the Tour coz they werent displayed and that was in the week leading up to it.

Alejandro Valverde at 6/1 for Paris Nice with Victor Chandler
Bradley Wiggins at 13/2 for Paris Nice with Boylesports
Alessandro Ballan for Strade Bianche at 8/1 (can't remember where...I have a few accounts).
I don't like talking up my bets but AV and BW are big favourites to me. Obviously Menchov, Klodi and Levi are dangers, and anything can happen in cycling. The fact that Coppel was put in as a favourite shows how little bookmakers know about cycling.
Coppel is a decent rider with an outside chance of a top 5 if he puts it together but an on-form Wiggo, Alejandro, Denis, Klodi or Levi would kill him.

Coppel
With Reine Taaramae, Tony Martin, Denis Menchov and Frank Schleck deemed the other likely contenders.

Poursuivant said:Slightly off topic boys and girls, but I posted in another thread about this too: with regards to odds, Cavendish is 7/2 for Milan SanRemo with Lads, 4/1 elsewhere. Would it be better if I wait nearer the time for other bookies to release their odds or will these be the best odds I will get? Thanks.
I fancy Wiggins for PN, looked in good form helping Porte last week, but Valverde is always a threat.

Bavarianrider said:Should be a great race. The competition is really tough this year and the route is interesting. A real "mini Tour de France"
ferryman said:Hmm. The Dauphine is the mini, PN is just a tease for us before the main course![]()
But P-N doesn't have mountainsBavarianrider said:But Paris Nice is a race where actually all the contenders try to go all in.
Dauphine is a nice race, but it's just a preperation race and you never know who is going full throttle, and who isn'T.
Dauphiné is the mini, and always get half of TdF main contenders.Bavarianrider said:But Paris Nice is a race where actually all the contenders try to go all in.

Where was the comment you're responding to criticising that?Bavarianrider said:Historically, Paris Nice has never been a high mountain race.
Flat short TT
2 hilly uphill finishes
steep medium mountain finish
Short Mountain TT.
That's as classic Paris Nice as it gets.
Criticism on this route is simply ridicilous.
