Sad to see such a top class athlete, who went out of his way to thank foreign fans even as some through death threats at him, inspires such hatred.

+1 . I rather took Libertine's reply as a sarcastic riposte to my "British Fanboyism" in saying that Froome would win a GT. Contador would certainly be a more obvious bet (given he rides the Vuelta), but taking Contador out of the equation, there are quite a few guys who could realistically win and I can't see that Froome would be a worse pick than Cobo, Nibali or Mollema.

I guess you know Libertine better than I do. I can understand people not liking Wiggo or Cavendish (I'd give Cav the vote here, since at least he's got a sense of humour), but from Froome's quotes, he seems a very down to earth and affable guy.

Some other random predictions:
- Contador will not be suspended.
- Evans won't be on the podium in the Tour, yet Schleck will be.
- Anton will finally stay upright for an entire GT and win the Vuelta ahead of Contador.

But to do well in the GC was never a goal for him in the Giro. His main goal was to win a stage and his overall goal for the season was the Vuelta.

Did Anton ever give an explanation to why his form was so horrific in the Vuelta? Was it just the Giro, cause he didn't really go all out there?(although Nibali, Rodriguez and Scarponi didn't do as well as expected in the Vuelta either so it could have been that)

From what I know he had serious digestion problems in the lead up to the Vuelta, which lead to him being particularly weak at the beginning of the race.

He stayed upright throughout a GT quite recently, in the Giro. He got 18th.

True, forgot about that. He wasn't in GC contention there though, as Hugo pointed out.

Funny to see that Gilbert is a favourite for pretty much any race he's aiming for next year. Everyone does apparently think he's going to be as dominant as last year?

Might as well put EBH up at TDF too while you're first at it.

Why couldn't he be?

- He has proven that he can win as the marked man.
- His team is stronger.
- He will probably be just as strong if not stronger.
- He will be more experienced.
- New RVV's parcours suits him better.
