The key is to watch more track racing, once you do you get an idea for the young talents from Commonwealth countries + USA who can make it onto the world well , like Meyer who has shone the last couple of years on the track and Bobridge (he is going to decimate everyone next year when he gets of the track)
Put Cancellara on the track for a season and he'll make them all scream for their mother. Cam Meyer is a great track rider, so is Iljo Keisse. Doesn't mean they're great road riders.

Yes really.. look at T. Phinney. Some can make the jump some not. Same for the MTB. Look at John Gadret that was big.

I know you don't know why, but this made me grin. Large.

Unfortunately for me, the track events that are of interest to me are the ones like the points race and the madison, so I don't get so much of that. The sprint can be fun, occasionally the TP (it's like a TTT, but actually has a point) but the keirin and Individual Pursuit bore the life out of me.

Elimination is excellent, the other long ones are pretty good as well. Only the sprint is interesting from the shorter events, and then only because of the novelty of people not racing.

Salita di Prati di Tivo: Km 14,6 Dislivello 1030 metri. Vincenzo Nibali ha impiegato 38'53" alla media di 22,530. VAM 1.590.

pretty fast, probably one of the biggest performances of nibali recorded

Would be interesting to know the individual times on the last 14.5 kms climb in Tirreno.

no doubt, now i'm completely sure di luca did a stratospheric ascent because pinotti can't stand him.i think danilo is better engineer and architect than him or something like that
if someone finds somewhere the individual times please post them here.

I've just watched it. He's the biggest surprise in a race full of surprising results: both good and bad.
Last year, he couldn't climb a speed bump, but the experts reckon him a "massive" talent and viola! he's up there beating some of the best.
Mind you, with Nibali winning the big MTF, I'm not sure what to make of the rest of the bunch.

Hoogers beating Wout? Another, not in the script moment.

When I heard this was going to be Horner's first race. I knew he could do well here if his form was good. I do very think the altered stage 4 has played to his favor because RSN team is sprinter heavy plus Cancellara, and he could have been isolated and attacked. In this case, Cancellara and the team help all the way, and he was placed well on final grade. Any steep finish, like the 1k Stage 4 or Sierra Road in last year's Cali at 9.8% and 5k he does very well.

Well he wouldnt have really been attacked that much, as he wasnt the race leader then, though it probabbly did help a bit to have his riders protecting him.

Matti to win in a sneak-attack 10 km from finish. You heard it here first.

I'm pretty sure that Nibali will win. Probably ahead of Kreuziger and Horner.

(You may want the stage 6 thread ;))

“In the final kilometers when Nibali went, I had to decide which card to play since there were so many bonus seconds available on the line. If I chased Nibali too hard but faded at the end, Kreuziger would have gained more seconds than just the bonus seconds, so I decided to give away something to Nibali to better protect the jersey.”

Unless Liquigas-Cannondale can outwit Radio Shack Nissan and Astana...etc
tomorrow. It looks to be Horner vs. Kreuziger in a short ITT.

I would have rather Horner countered Nibali, but then he's right's Roman could have popped him gaining the win, seconds, and bonus seconds while Horner would have ended most likely third or worse as they might have all come back together.

Horner is the polar opposite of a Valverde among climbers.

I liked the way Horner pull out his radio in the final K because he might have had more sense than his director in the moment.

what a fuccin bad luck for danilo.if they missed il giro because of that crash in the descent is terrible.

il killer was 15 seconds faster than nibali on prati di tivo.well that didn't help...
still that means without any doubt now the old di luca is back.

rabo are a big pile of fail thus far this season. Even with an injury ridden winter it looks like rabo rely on mr, gesink to deliver still

Matthews went for them and looked to be good for M-SR until Rabo paid a rider from another team to crash him and Matthews so they can ride for Bos:(

Now in all seriousness Rabo will ride for Breschel, Renshaw and maybe Boom.
