Well in this race on the other hand its been pretty simple. 2 and 3 were bunch sprints, 4 was a every man for himself sprint up the climb and 5 was a boring mtf with no real tactics.

The idea that Nibali would lose a second yet alone 38 to horner on any of these stages is ridiculous.

I think its safe to say that without the head-start Horner would be at best level with Nibali.

Pretty sure Horner would be doing more attacking if he was 30 second down. And since "they" let Nibali go today, why wouldnt "they" have let Horner go?

You just can't what-if these kind of things, child(21). ;)

About Coldeportes: I think that Pantano rode a surprisingly good Strade Bianche, and that is so far the best performance for Coldeportes this year.
Duarte i guess has been suffering for the crush of the first stage, so i think we don't have to judge him so badly. For the other guys probably the stages were to long, however i was really disappointing by not seeing any of them in the breakway yesterdayand today.
But after all this is a long term project, with the goal of letting colombian rider experience Europe racing, so i think we should wait before saying that this team is a failure.

Yeah, he even saved his white jersey ahead of Poels. By far his most impressive result ever on the road. Taking the pi$$ out of me, saying he can't climb ;)

Well, he has never shown anything in races before. However, guys like Vaugthers and some others always insisted that he was a good climber, so obviously he had shown that ability in training.

Yeah. In training. Half the peloton have shown they're great climbers in training (and all of Vaughters' riders :p)

This is the group that came in 30 minutes down today. No doubt doing the minimum to get inside time limit. I'll wager 2012 Milan San Remo winner is in here.

Why would he be 30 seconds down:confused:

Level means even means 0 means Same time.

"No headstart for Horner" Does not mean "please give a 30 second headstart to Nibali."

Or maybe he wasnt dropped early. An ASA rider was dropped near the top and they said it was Garzelli but Garzelli ended up 9 minutes down so maybe that was actually Di Luca.

anyone caring to explain me how di luca finished 15th in this stage?
i was watching carefully, searching him and he was nowhere in the last 14 km?i mean i didn't even see him in the front group at all.has he teleported or what?

i see some of you are wondering that too...it must be a mistake i guess in the official results
garzelli was the only one in that group for acqua e sapone i'm sure.

I don't buy the excuses put forth for Coldeportes so far. Being the first Colombian team focusing on Europe is kind of irrelevant when we've had Colombian teams doing well in Europe in the past few years, and their racing schedule was every bit as sketchy as Coldeportes'.

Still, maybe it's just that TA is a level above what they can achieve with those handicaps.
At the Pro-Tour level this is the first in more than 20 years. You know that the talent level and everything else is different. So I can understand that.

We need to be patient.

Yeah... could be. The RAI reported that Di Luca was in a second group when they were still 13km from the finish..can't trust those reporters. But they went through the group several times and I never spotted Di Luca

he arrived at the foot of the climb with two minutes gap.a crash on the descent splitted the group after he already had a problem with the rain jacket.incredible that he lost the race this way..

now mystery solved.

i guess i have to take all my words about acqua e sapone back...impressive ride.let him do the giro!

Rabobank failing once again to succeed in anything: Nice

Sagan doing zero work for Nibali: What a surprise!

That's a + for Di Luca, but i don't think it's a surprise he climbed the mtf faster than Tiralongo;)

First time you see him from the point at which Nibali attacks, is at the finish line. It looks like he's just clawed back to a group containing Velits at the very end of the stage, but he might have been with that group throughout, who knows.

Well the favorites did nothing until Nibali attacked with 3km to go so he had ample time to come back. Most of the climb was a normal pace by Astana

Such a shame if that is to cost Di Luca.

Hopefully he can make up tomorrow and win the stage.

Where is he on gC atm?

It's possible he could finish top-5, he could catch everyone from Nocentini (38 seconds ahead) till Pozzovivo (6 seconds ahead) in the ITT. Would be pretty funny, after everything that was said about him the last couple of days, not that I expected him to do this well either ;)

12th @ 1:25, so it's not that bad. If he did pull back 2 minuntes + he must be pretty good, and tomorrow's stage will suit him.

Great attack by Nibbles!
Impressed by Horner anyway, man maybe I should start training more hard I'm just 32! :D
Roman is getting better and better every year as one would expect, hope well for him.
Hope Broom Broom Sagan would not screw it in the overral, in the end!

I've just watched it. He's the biggest surprise in a race full of surprising results: both good and bad.
Last year, he couldn't climb a speed bump, but the experts reckon him a "massive" talent and viola! he's up there beating some of the best.
Mind you, with Nibali winning the big MTF, I'm not sure what to make of the rest of the bunch.

Hoogers beating Wout? Another, not in the script moment.

The key is to watch more track racing, once you do you get an idea for the young talents from Commonwealth countries + USA who can make it onto the world well , like Meyer who has shone the last couple of years on the track and Bobridge (he is going to decimate everyone next year when he gets of the track)
