A rough calculation sets the time limit at 36 minutes. Should be in the right area. 13%

Usually I am not the one to complain about time limits, but if true 36 minutes is a bit on a low side for a stage with 5000 meters of climbing.

Evans will either crawl back on the podium, or go out with a bang in the Pyrenees. I think and hope the latter. From then on I hope he goes for one day races and the Giro. As an Evans fan I am so happy that he managed a Tour win after all those near misses, but I hope he doesn't spend his last 2-3 years hopelessly chasing another. He was right to go for it this year though.

I dop hope he does the Giro next year for the victory. If he can win that, then to have your name as a Giro, WC and Tour victor is a big feather in his cap.

Yes, its done on percentage of time rather than the amount of climbing. This means that a stage with one mountain at the end can have the same elimination time as the stage today. With one mountain at the end everyone can just draft and then ride up at a very easy pace. Days with a lot of climbing often are troublesome for the autobus, ie Alpe d'Huez last year, Mt Etna last year.

And I think Nibali lost the Tour with that pat on the back.

Did you see the look on Nibali's face? I read it as, "you again?" Wiggins is nervous about the shark.

Man I wish they'd let Froome dog out of his cage. Or he could just rip out his earpiece and go for it. Wiggo showed weakness (or humanity) today, but I can't see him cracking. And I think Nibali lost the Tour with that pat on the back.

IF Froome did not go back to retrieve Wiggo after his attack I think wiggins would have lost 30-45 seconds. NIbali and VDB was responding to Froome attacks, but when Froome dropped off to get Brad, I think that would have been the time to up the pace and not allow the sky pair to come back. IT was almost like they had resigned themselves to the fact that Froome would bring him back.

As it goes, Wiggins may get the final jersey but Froome (And not forget the rest of the teammates) wins it for him.

All of this is quite interesting considering they were slower then the slowest predicted schedule.

Wow, Taaramae had a really bad day then. Seems to do well one day and then suffers the next. maybe an after-effect of his illness earlier this year.?

Very possibly, speaking as someone who had it a year ago, you have some days when you don't notice it at all and some days when you feel really bad

...which only means that ASO needs to adapt predictions to the "new era" of cycling :D

ASo has pointed out that they won't make any exceptions with the time limit this year. I really hope they will keep their word. If not this is a complete joke.

Those time schedules are crazy though. The slowest one was based on them averaging 'only' 43km/h!

Rein has always been that way. His key is limiting his losses on his bad day. Last year at the Tour, he did a good job to finish Top 12 in GC, but it seems he always has that one day where maybe mentally he quits on the day, my best guess.

No, it was based on 33km/h.

I've never checked the schedules years ago, but still this makes me wonder.

And yet he is 2 minutes behind the white jersey holder who is only a year older and who lost time being a good team player today...Pinot is good...Van Garderen is better

Pinot is from '90 and Van Garderen from '88. Pinot is in his first GT and already has a stage and is TOP 5 climber in the race. Also Pinot lost 2 minutes on stage 6 because of the crashes. Without that he would be in the lead.

The 20% of remaining riders rule will come in to play and people will be allowed to stay in.
