175 started today, 167 finishers on the letour website. Can think of about 5 withdrawals so might be the odd other person out there?
Six withdrawals. Larsson, Renshaw, Westra, Ruijgh, Mollema, Cancellara. Means one other person got KOed...

Pinot is 22 and Van Garderen is 23 right?? So no big age difference. This is cycling...Pinot is riding for himself...Van Garderen is riding for Cadel...Pinot can not time trial like Van Garderen...Pinot is 2 minutes down on Van Garderen who lost probably a minute helping Evans. So no...Pinot would not most likely be in the lead. Lastly, its not like Van Garderen has tons of GT experience...

Van Garderen is 22 months older than Pinot so basically two years. And of course he doesn't have a lot of experience but he has ridden 2 while Thibaut is riding his first, that's a big difference. Van Garderen may be a tad better this year thanks to his TT, but Pinot is certainly the bigger talent here, by a long shot.

I agree with the 2nd part of that statement

Your not a big Team sky fan?

What about the kid from BMC! He had a great ride and helped out Cadel as well. What a good young rider.

We shall see here in a few years. Maybe we need a "Is Pinot Overhyped" Thread.

I likeit very much. Those gaps in the Gc are already ****ing huge. A real Tour this year!

Without the idiot first week(AGAIN) and a touch more climbing this could of been best GT in recent memory

Yeah there are a good number of Americans in the pipelines right now (Phinney, King, TJ, Craddock, Dombrowski) . LA's development team developed quite a few. The country needs a Sky-like team (USPS minus the EPO) to put a ton of resources into their development.

All doping discussions are in the clinic.

I hope a reporter asks Wiggins about Froome's attack after the catch though Sky has probably already figured out a "correct" answer to that question.

Umm. . .yeah. An observation like the bolded one in a non-clinic thread is a red flag in front of the bulls in the China shop.

Yep. If Tony Martin hadn't been injured, he definitely would have been top 10.
This Tour brings back memories of the Indurain and Armstong era. if you can't time trial you can kiss any chance of winning the tour good bye.

We still need to see how Pinot can hold up over three weeks. Of course, the same can be said for TJVG. Nevertheless, it has been very impressive riding by both of them so far.

If Pinot does remain in the top ten, however--that would be an extremely impressive result for someone who is barely 22 years old. When is the last time a 22-year-old did that? Was it Ullrich in 1996?

this was a stage for the history books

the ghost of landis seems like choose to curse cadel today

froomy terrible attack, killing wiggo the highlight of the day

rolland awesome, astana did well too...tejay also impressed me a lot

brutal stage, the speed as was high as you can't get with 5000 meters of climbing or more.scarponi did la madeleine just one minute slower than andy and alberto in 2010 o_0 have to recheck but also levi's time on croix de fer from 2006 was beaten today.on la toussuire they came a little bit tired after going full gas from km 1 but still went pretty much as fast as sastre in 2006.

crazy stage.just wow @ pinot,rolland.wow.

chapeau of course to nibali, superb riding today,he deserves to stay on the podium.but the tour is long.jurgen will be better and better.

Anyway this stage gets a 9,5/10 from me. Only no 10 because Froome had no free role
It was a terrific stage, regardless of Sky's control. Actually, without it, I doubt we would have ever have seen so much attacking from so many riders.
Who would have thought it? The overall strength of Team Sky actually being a cause for great entertainment.

Not really. With no Mick Rogers to peg back Evans and ride tempo from 65 km till the last climb it could've been epic, not just good.

Great Display From Sky.. The old 1-2AS PREDICTED... Considering Evans and Nibs wheelsucked Sky all day it wasnt surprising they had a few arrows left to put in some digs.. Could see Evans was in Big trouble on the 1st attempt.
Could of been dropped there when he came back but Sky kept it tempo. Nibs well same as yesterday a few Digs again.. Only Reason Wiggo was Gapped I guess was Froome made a surprise move that had not been pre planned.. Brad Seemed ok after it all came back together.. Go Sky.. :)

It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't the same people saying the same thing time and time again. Yes, we all know but choose to focus on a different aspect.
