Whar a load of rubbish

Of course. Wiggins showed some great character and determination to superbly counter the attack of Nibali, and not to loose any time to on his rivals. He even gained time on his chief rival Evans. He wanted SKY to be 1-2 on the podium. That's why he didn't attack in the final stages and drop Froome.

Really disappointed with Menchov today. He was way off before anything major happened with the main contenders. I know days like this happen to everyone, but his TDF ended with a whimper. Not saying he would have dominated the tour, but I was expecting him to challenge for the top 5 at least. Anyone know yet what happened exactly? Is it just a bad day that happens to everyone who has ever ridden in a bike race?

Really? he didn't attack because he couldn't attack. Attacking at that place would have served him no favour (waste of energy chasing a few seconds). Wiggins cant burst like Nibali or even Evans.

Why should he move from a World Tour team to a Pro Conti team:confused:

Why cant the french get some $$ for a world tour team? Rolland without injury/mishaps first week looks like he could of been at least top 5 maybe podium contender,Pinot looks like a future champion without doubt. Many other young strong riders.

It was a terrific stage, regardless of Sky's control. Actually, without it, I doubt we would have ever have seen so much attacking from so many riders.
Who would have thought it? The overall strength of Team Sky actually being a cause for great entertainment.

Yep, they learned from the US Postal era. Oops. That makes me a f-cking wan-ker!

I ****ing missed it! bleah!!! I want a recap of the last climb at least!!!!

It's far safer you just watch the highlights! I'd try and give my review but I'd only get slated for putting down Froome or my own faveourite's tactics (evans).
It was carnage on the last slope though! (sorry!)

Shame about Evans. Theres something sad about watching the current TdF winner being dropped (like Contador last year). At least he tried to attack but it was clear he just did not have the legs.

We shall see here in a few years. Maybe we need a "Is Pinot Overhyped" Thread.

He just finished a Tour mountain stage with the elite climbers/contenders in his first Tour and had just won a Tour stage . He deserves the accolades and hopeful predictions of his bright future.

why would they want to be WT? for frenchies even more than others, there are only a handfull of races which count, practically all organized by ASO with french sponsors who would like to have french riders. Hence they get an invite and they don't have to do top races like the tour of china or whatever snoozefest at the end of the world.

I was responding to his comment that Wiggins will win a pro wrestling title as rubbish.

I guess, pro wrestling at least hides that it's fake.

Well at least Wiggo will likely never have to live with the permanent shame of having lost his title like your little suspended hero...save your breath/hate for the Vuelta, I think you'll need it...

Moving on...any comments from Sky after the stage ?

So... you mean if everybody else EXCEPT Roland did have their share of bad luck (Gesink, Mollema, Sanchez,... even JVdB & Froome)? Sure. And if all the riders in the current top 10 except him crashed out, he could win the TDF as well.

FDJ Big Mat is a French World Tour team. As for why French riders haven't performed well in the past 15 years, why they are good at junior levels and suck when they turn pro, and why they fail to attract big money sponsors, the answers will have to be on the clinic.
There are some good young French riders in this generation of all types. Pinot and Rolland as climbers, Demarre & Bouhani as sprinters, Le Bon as a strongman, even Sicard won the u 23 WC some years back.
Hopefully they can fulfill their potential.

Farrar seizes the lanterne rouge today! He's only 5 seconds behind Engoulvent though. It's a tight race! :)

166 Jimmy Engoulvent (Fra) Saur - Sojasun 2:20:35
167 Tyler Farrar (USA) Garmin - Sharp 2:20:40
