then again Renshaw sprinted at the speed of light. Does he know that the rest is onyl sprinting at 90%?

Van Hummel was sprinting at 100%

Picardy

To commemorate passing through Picardy today:

Magpies in Picardy by T.P. Cameron Wilson (1889-1918)

The magpies in Picardy
Are more than I can tell.
They flicker down the dusty roads
And cast a magic spell

On the men who march through Picardy,
Through Picardy to hell.

They are probably going so slow because they rode into higgs-boson particles slowing them down

Has the Olympic Road Race always been so close to the end of the Tour? I can't remember off the top of my head, but I was wondering if that's more play here than the mystics of physics.

You are calling the riders alchemists then? Trying to find the recipe to turn carbon into gold? :D

I heard the reason Cavendish wins so much is because he found a way to sprint around higgs-boson particles actually. So he never slows down

When Olympics are in July/August, yes. I remember that Sydney Olympics were in September, so that was an exception.

Is that the reason he's wearing the stupid vent-less helmet? It actually repels the Higgs bosons?

I know he's short but I'm not sure he's small enough to fit into quantum mechanics...

2008 Games ran Aug 8-24 RR was on Aug 9
2004 Games ran Aug 13-29 RR was on Aug 14
2000 Games ran Sept 15-Oct 1 RR was on Sept 27

So no, it hasn't always been as close to the end of Le tour.

He'll go down even more then, how will he break now when there's another crash?

If Dr F_rrari found a way to manipulate the Higgs Field then he might be able to adjust the mass of his climbers when the going gets tough!

Then some of the reason for the lull in racing?

Kirby's "clinic" comment there was amusing - he pretty heavily emphasised that there are legal issues they have to consider.

Physically speaking, Cav's lost weight to get his mass to be imaginary. Assuming he truly weigths something (relativistic mass) he'd never be able to drop below the speed of light. Or he jumps on a couple of tachyons
