Gesink has never been a great sprinter though. And certainly not when he rides the 200 RPM gear he usually rides. It is more strange to see Gesink without the painface than with though..

Pssst! It should be May 19.

I've no clue who's gonna win, neither the stage nor the GC. But I am so gonna stay up and watch it!
Sleep? Totally overrated anyway!

LOL Redhead, I'm staying up to watch it too. I want Nibbles to win but I don't think he has the form at the moment so I'm tipping Horner for the stage win!

No love for TJVG??

Does anyone give him a chance to stick with Gesink tomorrow??

I do.

He'll be hit in the face by a flying spectator and retire.:D

Well, normally, he would climb right at the front, attack, then rapidly blow and go out of the back.
Maybe this time, he'll make an attack stick;who knows?
Stranger things have happened.............I just can't think of any at the moment.

I echo that statement! I just hope Joe Dombrowski does as well.

This surely isn't a stage for Craddock, but I've been impressed by him. And he's only 20 years old!

Craddock should not feature today no. Joe Dombrowski however!

The guy is 1.88cm and weighs 68kgs. He averaged almost 400watts over 32miniuts at the Wintergreen Ascent back in 2010. He's only gotten better since.

I think he can turn into a world-class climber over time. Top-10/15 today would be excellent.

tejay will lose time, limiting his losses will be key, horner will rip this up early on some may go with him some may play it safe, i think velits and gesink have the form to do well, nibali should do well, and also watch out for sutherland.

Either Nibali or Gesink will take this stage, Gesink will be overall winner, wish I could be there on top of the mountain:D

Horner will have a helluva time taking more than 2 minutes from Tejay and Gesink and Talansky and Velits.

But I expect him to try. I'm guessing he will attack just at the village. 4.8 miles and steep almost to the line.

I don't see him taking out 3 minutes but I do see it as the race making move as Gesink, Velits, Tejay, Dave Z... somebody will blow up and it probably won't be Horner.

So, what you say, big attack by Horner, final 4.8 miles?
If Horners' team can destroy the field and Horner only rides with the contenders, he could win overall. No way Dave Z. can hack a Big Horner attack. Still I don't think Horner can take more than 30 seconds out of Gesink and Nibali.

I guess that would make the overall Gesink, Nibali, Horner.

Unless Horner just really is not good, I don't see him going down without a fight. He's going to pull the pin on the grenade for sure the only question is when/where.

I expect Jens and Rast will make the race really hard thr second time. I'd expect Busche to up the pace to Baldy Village then I expect Hornr to try and take his 3 minutes back.

Nibs may be the wild card here. He's got to make up about 1:30.

On thing for sure... I expect to see some real racing. Nobody's going to sit back and watch Horner or Nibs go up the road.

The reason I don't think Horner can win overall is that Nibali has a minute on him, and if we judge by their T-A performances, their climbing should be about the same. So if Horner attacks all out, Nibali just neds to hold on, right?

Sure but he also is a 1:20 down on Tejay and Gesink. Talansky is ahead of him too.

Gonna be fun.

I would not mind seeing Dave Z win this race... I just don't think he will.

Big break with 4 Radioshack riders.

RadioShack
Christopher Horner (USA)
George Bennett (NZl)
Grégory Rast (Swi)
Jens Voigt (Ger)

Coup by Radioshack. Teammates will help set Horner up at the base of Mt. Baldy. I'd better hope Rabobank and Garmin are awake.

Other riders in the break are:
Liquigas-Cannondale
Timothy Duggan (USA)
Maxime Bouet (Fra)
Mickaël Chérel (Fra)

United Healthcare
Marc de Maar (Ned)
Bradley White (USA)

Colombia-ColdePortes
Darwin Atapuma (Col)

Agros-Shimano
Alexandre Geniez (Fra)

Spidertech
Lucas Euser (USA)

Bissell Cycling
Christopher Baldwin (USA)

Bontrager-Livestrong
Nathan Brown (USA)

Four Radioshack (including Horner), plus Liquigas' Tim Duggan in the break. With Voigt and Duggan, they can really do some damage -- Garmin is going to have to work really hard.
