Seriously... What's wrong with that tweet?
He said he messed up which pretty much means the same as that he sucked.

He ends with congratulating the winner.

No matter what he would've said some people here would've burned him down anyways.

Not this tweet in particular, I have never seen him say he got beaten because he wasn't the best. That's the problem I have with him. Even when Greipel kicked his *** in stage 10 of the Tour this year he made up a stupid excuse.

So what if he congratulates the winner? If a person says "no offence, but..." it will be followed by something rude that's meant to be offensive. Same goes for Cav and congratulating someone that beats him. There's always the but... ;)

Ha! Accept my humble apologies.

Just get so used to the blind hatred on here, such that it's not often easy to spot.;)

Whatever he does there are certain people on here who will complain about it. I only posted the puffin the other day on the same issue but I love the little guy....

So if Usain Bolt loses, he should explain that he's not the best sprinter, rather than talk about which bit of the race he got wrong? If he does the later, even whilst congratulating the winner, he's clearly a prat.

Right, got it...

If Usain Bolt loses the 100 meters on the Olympics without a false start or injuries(athletics is a lot more injury prone than cycling after all) than he's clearly not the best sprinter now is he?

Which bit of the race? Dude, it's 100 meter long race.

Come on, let's wait until Cavendish actually says something that's genuinely egotistical or stupid before we dogpile on him. He says plenty of things that are worth tearing into him for, there's no point in kicking him around when he says something sensible and in no way offensive. He didn't say he would have beaten Kittel, he just said he got swamped.

Of course, while we can comment that other riders don't make those excuses, but we don't actually know that - some of them perhaps do, but their excuses don't get posted, reposted and scrutinized the way Cav's do, because of his profile and his reputation.

Besides, if we always used races in February to guide us as to who the best sprinter in the world is, then we'd all be discussing Francesco Chicchi most years.

No need to cav bash, just going to stick to the objective facts.

Points Classification:
1 André Greipel (Ger) Lotto Belisol Team 28 pts
2 Peter Sagan (Svk) Liquigas-Cannondale 27
3 Marcel Kittel (Ger) Project 1t4i 22
[...]
22 Mark Cavendish (GBr) Sky Procycling 3

Last year Cavendish wasn't good in Oman either. He lost to Theo Bos, wasn't even placed well in the others. Bos won 2 sprints and Goss 1. Still Cavendish was good at the Tour + world ch.

I don't think sprinters care much at this point

The only fact that actually matters is that it's February 16th.

What to people make of tomorrows stage? Those profiles in these type of races are hard to make out! I mean, is it like the RvV with loads of short steep climbs and the likes of Boonen and Farrar and Cancellara should figure, or is it more a mountain climbers day with the likes of Nibali, Rodriguez and Fuglsang?

Anyone got any detailed profiles of the climbs?

Right, he didn't care about winning emphatically in Qatar

Face it, he's not the best sprinter anymore.

You are correct in the sense that Cavendish no doubt has his eyes on the bigger prizes. Interesting though that riders like Kittel, Sagan and Greipel can be competitive from day one. It is the very thing Schleck gets crucified for on here.

Lol. We'll see. I'm pretty sure when it comes to the big races Cavendish will win the most of all sprinters, again.

I dont understand your point. Cav has the same mount of wins as Kittel and more than Sagan so far this season. He is competitive, just not as dominating as you will see him later this season.

I think he did more than enough to win 2 stages in Qatar with this belly going on.. It looks like he's been eating Alex Rasmussen...

God, not this again... even Wiggins looks fat like that. It's called abdominal breathing, and very healthy for a sportsman. Also, it shows quite clearly in an unflattering white jersey.
