Sigh.

When you are objectively the best, there is generally a reason why you get beaten by people you are better than.

Explaining what that reason was is not the same thing as insisting their win has no validity.

Since when is Cav objectively the best in these early season races? Because he beat Boonen in a stage at Qatar? I seem to remember you saying not so kind things about Boonen ;)

How should we objectively know he's better than Kittel?

i tried to look at tomorrow's stage through MMR and while i obviously got lost in the desert, i think i found that climbs at the end of race and the 'sharp' ASO profile makes some sense since that circular ascents should be about 2.1km-6.3% in my view...

Still laughing that Sky won the best lead-out train of the year poll by the way

It seems even a Pro-conti team is better then them.

He got boxed in on stage 1, so didn't sprint there. Obviously didn't sprint in stage 2 and now he's sixth. I doubt he's motivated to really sprint here and is more concerned with not crashing.

That's certainly how it looks.

He hasn't had a real leadout so far this year, maybe this time it cost him.

It will definately make things harder for him.
Besides that Lotto and 1t41 both seem to use the HTC approach regarding the sprinttrain which will make it even harder for Cav. Specially since Kittel and Greipel both seem to be able to reach the same topspeed as Cav.
Last year during the Tour Greipel was as fast as Cav just always positioned worse.

Seriously... What's wrong with that tweet?
He said he messed up which pretty much means the same as that he sucked.

He ends with congratulating the winner.

No matter what he would've said some people here would've burned him down anyways.

This time he blames only himself.

Well it's about time. Folks will start to realize that Cav is going to suffer without HTC and Renshaw. The competition is better than the media would want you to believe.

That climb before the crescent also seems to be pretty steep... about a 90 meters rise in less than a kilometre.

It is but it isn't. Every sprint guys get boxed and flummoxed by other riders so they could all say that after Cav's wins. Just once he could keep his f'n mouth shut and say the better and faster guy won today, I'lll try to get him next time. It detracts from the other guy to say "yeah but" and Cav does that every time or so it seems and it got old several years ago.

it came out as 2.9km-6.9%. i guess that 55m mark is higher than actually the bottom of that climb... if i didn't make some stupid mistake of course...

EDIT: i think something is wrong about their height marks, though the sharpness is correct

Navardauskas seems to be in great shape, perhaps he can do something tomorrow? I believe Garmin will be going for him in the GC now, given that Vandevelde has already lost 40 seconds.

I'd rather hear what his genuine opinion of a race is not what someone on the internet who hasn't seen the race thinks it should be.

Stick to EBH interviews. They'll be more suitable for your gentle sensitivities.

Maybe, he can certainly climb a bit. I checked the Garmin website and he's listed at 77 kgs  Quite the powerhouse.

hyper-sensitive?
If any other sprinter writes this people won't even talk about it.

Cav's just trying to ruin my bingo game.

Surely there was somebody who ruined his race? He could even go for two people, the more the merrier.

What to people make of tomorrows stage? Those profiles in these type of races are hard to make out! I mean, is it like the RvV with loads of short steep climbs and the likes of Boonen and Farrar and Cancellara should figure, or is it more a mountain climbers day with the likes of Nibali, Rodriguez and Fuglsang?
