Nibali worked for Sagan again. Doesn't seem like he cares about the GC then. Liqui might try to go for Sagan on Green Mountain too
Gazzetta's article reports that he tried a finisseur action but the peloton stopped him at 400 m to the line.

It was pretty obvious Sagan was the leader... Just like in Pologne. Sagan is leader for the smaller stage races as he's much much much much much better in them than Nibali. Green mountain isn't that hard, EBH got second last year, so Sagan in good shape should be able to handle it.

actually green mountain is very hard but the speed is quite low that's why i think sagan can be there.but probably again some crazy nuts like gesink last year will decide to go all out in february.purito is my guess, fuglsang crashed nasty today.and of course my first pick, luca ascani:p

Last year peloton actually got split before the mountain, Purito was stuck in 2nd or third group, and if memory serves me correct still had a decent time up the mountain, so as long as he doesn't get caught out again I can see him winning this year.

Who cares about race victories, if you can get gasoline this cheap in Oman:

I bet all the Dutch cyclists are hoarding gasoline right now

(And yes, I speak in jest)

My pick for tomorrows stage gotta be Velits. I think he has looked strong this week, but maybe they'll go all in for Chavanel?

Fuglsang is in a great position, 25secs off the lead and ahead of all the other climbers. Surely he has a great chance for overall victory tomorrow.

He's behind Slagter, who judging by the other day must be in pretty good form.

Side note: Can someone explain me what is this Froomey, Gossy, Cookie thing? Is this some anglophone thing? It sounds so weird....

Anglophones, particularly Australians, tend to put "y", or sometimes "o" (Wiggo etc.) on the end of their friend's surnames. No real reason for it, it's just a little quirk.

As Element points out, it's a British/Aussie nicknaming system based on surnames. Not all surnames are suitable though and the nickname should be one or two syllables.

Basically, you have three options:

1. Shorten and add -o (more favoured by Aussies)
2. Shorten and add -s
3. Add -y (or on rare occasions -sy)

Play team sports long enough and you get an instinct for which is the right option. If Trevim was your surname then you'd be Trevs in UK, but maybe Trevo in Oz, but certainly not Trevy or Trevimy.

The options are beautifully illustrated by the classic Manchester United midfield of the late 90s/early 00s - Becks, Scholesy, Keano and Giggsy.

I live in Cardiff. It's alive and well here. Half the city's called Jonesy.

The Scots aren't immune from it, but, yes it's less prevalent, maybe because it doesn't really work with Mc names - hence Ally 'Coisty' McCoist, for example.

Nice work by Greipel and his team to get back. Reading the race report; the stage seemed quite exciting ( Chavanel probably wanted to gain some time ). Nice work by Sagan to be consistent yet again/ come 2nd/ attack.

Greipel's got to be favourite for MSR.

In my view Cav/ Goss can be in good form for M-SR still.

However on what we have seen so far EBH looks like he could contend for Sky ( 2 options ), Boonen, Galimzynayov, Ciolek ( ? ) could win and so could Hushovd/ all other sprinters and the likes of Cancellara/ Gilbert who might get a break again.

I think Demare could win M-SR if he can last the distance ( which might not happen ). I still think he deserves a mention.

Galimzyanov is by far the worst climber in the pro tour. Can't see him winning MSR.

Indeed. Even Guardini lost less time than Galimzyanov did yesterday.

And he's on the same team with Oscar ****ing Freire, who will still school 99% of these hyped up boys in a flat sprint after 300 km.

Who the f*** has said that Greenedge doesn't have climbers?

It will be interesting to see how "Cookie" goes as he has had a great start to the season. In the Aussie Championships back in Jan he shepherded Gerrans around the multi lap circuit and finished well, just a minute behind Gerrans, Lloyd and Porte in that race. Both Gerrans (TDU) and Porte in Portugal have shown that form is very solid.
I was wondering watching Porte's win today if he will be targetted by GE as the prime GC contender/climber when his contract expires with Sky? Would have to be appealing, especially if he sits behind Wiggins and Froome in the Sky hierarchy.
