Is Gallopin as surprising as it seems at first glance?

He is good on the hilly stuff and in good form and it's February and the field is not very deep so it's not *hugely* surprsing.

Andy 34th.

Glad to see he's focussing properly on the Tour this year.

I know he made himself popular in the past racing hard all year, but it's nice he's now knuckling down to his vocation.

Cooke finished one place above Andy on this stage ( 33rd ) He's definitely got a GC pedigree as GreenEdge predicted

Slagter was with Velits tilll the last km, according to the Dutch press. After that, he couldn't follow Velits anymore. I'm looking forward to the Giro with Slagter. Hopefully he'll show the same as Mollema en Kruijswijk did before. (Top-20?)

Come on, that was only the fifth day he has trained this year

so for the second consecutive year, with a little help of an early season time and windy landscapes, Tour of Oman raises the concept of climbing to a new level

LTD had bike problems in the last kilometer. With that in mind, his result (12th) isn't that bad. Earlier he told he wasn't that happy about it's current form.

1. Velits
2. Nibali +1s
3. Galloping +??

new GC

Wow...1 second... Nibali will be mad that he lost seconds earlier in this race slaving for Sagan
Nib's will just be happy to have returned to winning ways - the GC would be just icing on the cake - after such a dry 2011.

Must have blown up pretty badly to finish 37 seconds behind Velits in the end.
Yes, it was all a lie, and in fact Slagter was dropped at the foot

Dutch press = the Rabobank website ;)

I think Slagter can definitely do a top-20 in the Giro. And who knows, maybe more.

I really thought it was going to be different this year.

Didn't he drop all his team mates in training?

Disappointing performance by Sagan, seems like he was nowhere close to the front. Quite funny that Nibali sacrificed himself for Sagan's 2nd place yesterday which lost him 15 seconds and then ultimately he will lose the GC by 1 second.

Nice win for Nibali. Glad Velits is leader though :D

Now I don't understand why Nibali worked for Sagan though... This guy has no racing intellect at all it seems.

He sacrificed himself by attacking in the final kilometre? Looked more like he was trying to gain a few seconds himself...

Sagan is still not a climber. He won't do anything in the ardennes classics either. Maybe the Amstel Gold Race if they race very softly
