not the best time trialist around but good enough for a GC guy i would say.

going into more detail on the kloden interview, he thinks machado can be a serious contender for GT's in the next few years but he needs to improve a lot mentally as he is very nervous apparently, he wants to help and he is always giving him advices. He also said that he thinks that nonetheless machado has improved a lot since he went to the shack

Good to hear about Machado improving since going to RSNT. However he failed today to drop so many places. Martin did well to come 2nd in the ITT ( since he probably did not have such a good base of training due to the knee )/ not congratulating him for his performance ( 2nd on GC ) because of the Malhao ( it was bad ). Good win by Wiggins still in the ITT. Porte is a legend and Costa did better than i expected in the ITT.
JVDB also showing good form.

No surprise to see VDB TT so well. He has spent 3 days each week with his time trial bike this winter :)

Which means he is serious about the TDF which is good.

Tony Martin almost crashed with a dog. He gad to brak and avoid the dog. He would have won without this incident.

Tony Martin gave all he could to cut into a 50 second gap between he and Volta ao Algarve leader Richie Porte (Team Sky) at Sunday's individual time trial stage. Martin's 100 percent effort got him 2nd place to Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) in the final stage, but fell 37 seconds short of the overall victory in 2012.

"I'm happy about my performance even if I made two little mistakes in two corners that compromised my race a bit," Martin said. "Moreover at about five kilometers from the finish a dog crossed the road while I was passing. I was scared and I stopped pedalling for few meters. But all these kind of things can happen in a TT, so I have nothing to complain about the race."

Martin was the 2011 winner of Volta Algarve. Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team went into Sunday's stage with momentum after a 1-2 victory in stage four for Gerald Ciolek and Matteo Trentin.

"Wiggins was really strong and he devoted the victory," Martin said. "It was a nice duel with Bradley and I'm sure this year we will see other good fights as today. Concerning my condition, I can say that I improved a lot in this week of racing. Everything is going in the right directions, I'm really looking forward to the next races."

For the inevitable non-believers... He didn't brake though :D

To be fair, the Portuguese péloton is a more relaxed place than most WT pélotons, and Machado showed a general phobia of being in the péloton back in Portugal.

(For those unfamiliar with pre-Radioshack Machado, his racing style would have made Vino ask him to calm down)
