He can TT. He beat the Leipheimer at the Gila, but, I forgot only cyclo-tourists race there.:D

I know he can TT. Early in the season you never know what shape the riders are in. Sergant's time indicate that he is in fairly good shape.

Rui Costa checked the parcour this morning. Says there may be some surprises due to the it's ondulating and technical caracteristics at some streches. Doesn't know what to expect from the TT today, performance-wise

Jose Azevedo: the parcour suits Tiago Machado. Thinks the race will be decided beetween Porte, Machado, Martin and Wiggins (?). In response to a questions form the interviewer says they have been working with Machado to mature him and prevent his emotions to get in the way of his performance.

José Mendes: I'm a little bit nervous, but that will go away with the first strokes. I am already happy with my performance so far. I will give my best and see what happens. (Not the exact words, but you get the idea.

Ah, the infamous RTP Helicopter stream from the Volta returns. For some reason there is one of the RTP live viewing options that allows you commentary-free coverage from one helicopter. There are other streaming options, don't worry.

What a crap coverage, southern Europe at its best

?

Aside from the xenophobic implications, you're not exactly one to talk. The Deutschland Tour's coverage was one of the worst around.

The bottom line is that this is a small race, so the budget for coverage isn't high. Be thankful you can see the riders and their finishing times.

RTP's Volta a Portugal coverage is some of the best in the sport.

This is the first time Algarve has been live, so some problems are to be expected. Still better than most races to this point in the season - and better than the only WorldTour race so far, which only had 2 of its stages live, and one of those was a pathetic crit that has no business being in a World Tour race.

Not all race coverage can be as good as the Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt, I'm afraid.
