Vaughters has brought on Rosseler and Rasmussen basically only for this event, so apparently at least some teams take it seriously.

I don't think Aussie selectors will have much say in the matter... after all, who pays these riders?

The event doesn't have enough cache yet for teams to want to spend their bargaining power with riders.

Sky pay the wages, but if people say they want to save themselves for the ITT then the team will have to offer something in return - simply ordering obedience is not much of a motivational technique.

Also a good point. How much is a Worlds actually worth to a national governing body compared to a trade team? The rider takes the jersey and the UCI points back to the trade team.

Also 3 nations can win the ITT, and 3-4 can win the RR. Anyone else might be better focussing on the TTT.
