I suspect most are waiting until the last minute. A few classics guys haven't even started their season yet.

Exactly, especially as most riders haven't given their race schedule during the classics yet. There are so many riders that could score lots of points during the classics but probably will focus on other races, that waiting for information about schedules is even more crucial than for the regular game.

How do you work out the points for each rider? CQ Points 31/12/2012 minus Ranking after L-B-L? Cheers

Each rider's value is equal to his 2012 score except in the cases of returning riders.
I guess he actually asked how riders score points during the game. To which my best guess is they score the cqranking score that they achieve during the races that are in the classics short list in Hugo's first post.

Have a team ready, but haven't submitted yet. No big thoughts going into it, racing calendars etc. So I don't expect much, and am a bit disappointed that my team resembles my overall cqranking-manager team quite a lot.

Thanks, that is what I am asking. There are possible two ways and I wonder which one it is:
1. Example: Gilbert has 1000 points on 31/12/2012. Gilbert has 1800 Points after last Classics Race (L-B-L). Score: 800 Points

2. Gilbert has 1000 points on 31/12/202. He wins four WT Classics each 280 points = 1060 points.

Case one takes into account how he performed last year. Case two does not take into account last year. Which one is it?

Also, I klicked the link for the team entry list and downloaded the list but it is not working as there is no "2012 Results" Sheet attached to the "Your Team" Sheet, therefore the Vlookup Formula does not work. It looks like you guy have no problems so what do I do wrong? I also tried to enter riders on the web-page of the link (not downloading) but I can't do that either. Typing won't work. Clueless

Offredo was banned last year. What would be his starting points? I guess his 2011 end points but how can I get it without the entry list?

Cheers

It is neither. Hugo puts together a list of ~15 races, and adds up the CQ scored by each rider in those races.

I thought the sheet didn't work until I put the names in right. Make sure it's written CANCELLARA Fabian. Just checked and Offredo needs to be spelled OFFREDO Yoann to work, and appears to have a points value of 295.

Re points: The point system can be seen here under points: http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/rules.asp

So if Michael Rasmussen wins Paris-Roubaix he earns 280 points etc.

Re the Excel file: It should work. As someone mentioned, make sure you spell the name exactly as it is spelled on cqranking.com.

Re ex-dopers: Their value is equal to that of their last full season. So for instance, Contador costs 2272 because his last season unaffected by his suspension was 2009 in which he scored 2272 points.

Thanks for the tips. Table works now with the names right.

So the riders just score in each race according to the CQ Ranking points. It doesn't matter how they performed the year before in that same race? I guess, this is reflected by their CQ ranking on 31/12/2013.

Last question (hopefully). If I use a rider that was banned in 2012 I have to use his 2011 score (Last full season). Do I have to find that score myself on the CQ web-page or did Hugo already adjust that value when I type the name in. For Example, is Offredos value, mentioned above, the right one?

Cheers

It is adjusted in the excel sheet.

Yeah, it doesn't matter how the rider performed the previous year. And yes, I have adjusted all riders in the Excel file :)

Alright, I finally got some work done on this. And being the Excel n00b that I am, it has actually taken quite a lot of time working it all out. However, I think the Excel file is ready now. Hopefully it works. Otherwise, I have no clue what to do :D

oops this is the first time I have seen this since you decided what was actually happeneing.
I'll throw a team together tonight

Well the team is in, 50 points under the limit. And only 1 Australian, what's going on with me there :p

I've gone with the no rider over 500 points approach, now I just have to hope that Cancellara and Gilbert won't feature. I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to pick my team but overall, I'm pretty happy with it.
I wonder how much the winner will score. I'd guess around 2000-2200.
