It was funny yesterday close to the finish line when Contador looked like trying to contest the sprint and as soon as Froome realized it he jumped like if it was the World Championship. :D

I expect Froome/Sky to control any Contador's move and that might kill the race if Contador feels like to give it a shot.

Pretty much. Sky is only afraid of Contador. Rest is no danger. Might be their downfall. Hopefully it will.

Maybe they forgot there was no bonus seconds. I knew there weren't any, but when I saw all the GC guys fighting for top places, I forgot too and thought they were fighting for bonus seconds. I guess it was a reflex action.

Or the mind games have begun.

It's important to place well in the first three stages if you want to go out in the last few positions in the time trial. That's why the GC favourites were fighting for the top places.

Sanchez is my bet. Contador, Froome, JRod etc. who are prepping for the Tour wont take alot of risks on the descent (which is tricky as far as I understand)

Hoping EBH and Thor attacks the pelleton on the descent, manages to stay away and take the 1,2.

(and the winning lottery numbers of course).:p

Otherwise, I'm hoping for some exciting viewing.

Why is it so important to go out in the last few spots of the time trial ? Unless th forecast is for rain in the morning clearing up in the afternoon - I suppose I can see an advantage there, but the forecast could just as likely be dry in the morning with rain in the afternoon...

For instance in the Giro Nibali's time would have likely been even faster had he gone out earlier in the MTT without all the rain around...

Also if you constantly catch people in the TT won't you get a (Small) draft off of each one (And they need to move out the way for you, not the other way round). Why is going out last/later perceived to be better ?

You know the others time?

The draft isn't the most important thing. The psychological boost of chasing someone is.

Putting out a super time early could increase the psychological pressure though, lead to too many risks on descents - possibly induce a crash or excess effort early leading to cracking in the latter stages... ;) ?

I think the accepted wisdom is going out last is advantageous. You can not only pace yourself using your rivals' time checks but you can learn from everybody else's lines and slides and then there is the psychological advantage as the youngest mentioned.

Doesn't it stand for flat stage? That's what i always thought since they describe the tougher stages differently. Anyway deserves medium mountain stage.

"en ligne" in french pretty much means a road race that isn't a time trial. It's mostly used to differentiate in competitions like the worlds or olympics for example between the Time Trial and the road race.

DNF Jelle Vanendert.

What a joke. AS might have someone in his league after all.

Vanendert was at least in the top15 this year. AS wasn't in top15 in the past 2 years. There is still much to learn for the Belgian.
