I think the profile form letour is not accurate, it's more like this:

so it flattens out in the end, uphill sprint from a small group likely = good chance for Moreno to win

Number of years since someone turned pro is a better guide, as well as mileage on the legs. Looking at Merckx, turned pro in 65, his 'dominance' ending in 75 (Wiki). Of course he was still a bloody good bike rider and won San-Remo in 76. Contador turned pro in 2003, its now 2013.

For a current example in another sport, look at Federer - still #3 in the world but not quite at the tip top when it comes to competing with Nadal or Djokovic any more for the slams.

I'm not saying its the end for Contador, only a fool would do that but father time catches up with everyone in the end.

Hopefully we're both completely wrong for the sake of a decent TdF !
