Snow expected Saturday night. Good luck with that.

Sadly the alternate will be Valloire as they have paid for it. I'd actually prefer a Cenis MTF.

At this rate we may lose Telegraphe too :D

Not to mention Sestriere the day before:

The road would probably be ok? But if they expect snowfall during the day they would avoid it I guess.

Bardonecchia would be ok, just a bit cold.

For being completely invisible an entire GT and ending up 25th? This would be the 5th time.
Exactly. He's the Vansevenant of the 20-30.

Lol galibier snowed out. Good I say. Act of god. Hope that will teach them not to use already overused tdf climbs.

Now let's pray for snow on peyragaudes in September.

Who's moron idea was this anyway. It's supposed to honour pantani even though the stage didn't actually finish there.

Marco also won the giro that year. Why not finish on piancavolo.

And people knew in October there were strong chances of snow.

I gotta admit Evans has really surprised me positively, and Hesjedal surprised me negatively. I kinda suspected Wiggins to get dropped on the steep climbs. Maybe he did too, but he had hoped for a nice lead margin after the TT for sure.

After 19th, 20th, 21st and 23rd I think he'll be 22nd this year.

There are chances of snow in May in any climb in the Alps at that altitude, no matter its name and location. Gavia 1988 was on 5th of June. Galibier out can only help Vincenzo in his fight with Rigo :p :D

Hm, I wonder how many years one should follow to consider Galibier overused.
As I understand you are big foe of mixture of GT genres, so to speak each of GT has only its own climbs?

Galibier removal is very very sad. The Giro climbs in the Tour is cool. The Tour climbs in the Giro too

why, it will continue, why wouldn't it.

The weather on Sunday is still a concern. Light snow showers are possible even in the afternoon. Above Plan Lachat, I guess.

I don't think the heavy snow on Saturday will be a problem for the organizers, though.

Weather is the **** right now in northern Italy. You don't wanna trust the weather service but things are not looking good for next week as well.

Is there a chance that they'll finish at Plan Lachat instead of going to the top? Or is it either all the way to the top or Valloire?

I guess it's either the top or Valloire. if the weather is bad, there's no point of going up to Plan Lachat, to make the riders ride down to the bus in Valloire after they cross the line

Snow or no snow, they should just go ahead with Galibier. Treat it like a honorary stage for Andy hampsten. Plus it would help to ensure a real hard man and deserving winner of the Giro.

Yeah as long as it's not worse than '88 they should simply race. The riders get more money today, they have better material, they have better training. They should not cry, but do it like the good old heroes. Professional cycling is for the weary of live ones ;) :D
