vini fantini starts the quest of winning this giro

Nah,I don't think Santambrogio can put over one minute to the rest of GC favorites.

One of Sanchez, Pozzovivo or Kiserlovski to jump away on the middle of the climb, get a bit of leeway from the top favorites and win.

Scarponi to get 25 sec on other top contenders.

Uran and Hesjedal to wave goodbye to top 5 chances.

I notice a trend of R. Gesink not appearing in these kind of polls. Must be because he never attacks and is in poor form.

Time for Pozzo to start shining. I'm expecting him to go early and gain some time on the other favourites.

Nibali and Wiggins to finish together, whereas Evans loses a little bit. Looking forward to seeing how Betancur will fare on this sort of climb.

Rather because he has no acceleration and certainly isn't strong enough to ride the top climbers off his wheel. He'll probably do well, but it's hard to imagine him winning.

Dunno about Nibali...he's never really climbed well in GTs when it mattered (Giro/2009, TDF/2012) well except in Spain/2010 I guess...but that was against Mosquera, so...

pfffff.... hesjedal might be finish here. I hope he bounces back on the rest day. It's crunch time for him. I expect sky will show their strength here, start tighten the screw. Evan might loose some time here.

He wasn't that great on the climbs. He always had his bad day btw.

If evans is back to his old self he has a very good chance.

Nibali was stronger on the climbs so far this year than in the entire TDF 2012 though.
Especially Tirreno was very impressive. So was Trentino (but in trentino a worse field)

So he improved his climbing over 2012 if you ask me. He looks yet another year stronger so I wouldn't go on too much about 2012 in comparison.
We'll see it tuesday though

He was better than anyone bar the sky duo. Doesn't seem that bad.

Be interesting to see what happens if Wiggo, Henao and Uran have Cataldo and Sitsou with them at the foot of the final climb, could see an attack from Henao or Uran causing problems for Nibali and isolating him.

I'd like to see Uran or Henao attack too, then Nibali, Evans, Gesink and Scraponi respond and Wiggins is dropped :D

Yep, adds a new twist when the entire train is freed from riding until the last climb.

In practice I suspect they'll both be on forlorn chase duty getting Wiggins back after the descent.

What on earth are you talking about? He climbed less than Froom on par with Wiggins. If Froom did not come back for Wiggins, Nibali and Froom can ride away at that particular stage. Nibali probably is one of the most consistent GT riders in his generation. He won the 2010 Vuelat by consistency and he is improving every year. His hey days are still ahead of him.

Froome was way stronger than Nibali. Immeasurably stronger than Nibali. Different climbing universe.

????

Your comments confuse me as usual.

You make it sound like Nibali sucks at climbing.
