It was raining really hard and the final circuit was pretty dangerous. I reckon it was a wise decision.

i don't understand the decision. Why then let the sprint happens anyway?? That's even dangerous.High speed in a treacherous circuit?? They should just neutralize the race and make everyone back to their bus? so it's fair for the people who are riding so fast up front or GC rider who rides up front

Steegmans finally being able to do lead-outs again.
Mainly because he's grown back some balls.

what do you think happened? I give you two words: wiggins and rain
Mainly: Wiggins and the flu. He couldn't even follow the chasing group.

Oh, I meant that Wiggins could lose 3 minutes on that kind of stage, it's really ridiculous, can't just be his "cold" or it's really serious and he should go home and get treated. He's turning the Giro in a bit of a farce :-(

What? The team will just come back to pace him back to the group. Then, he'll give them the bottles.
:)

Exactly... And remember, Sky is so professional. Brailsford will decide Wiggins has to stay until rest day 2, so that he gains three days of experience in water carrying. He´ll need this experience for July, to carry for Froome. And if he served Uran and Froome well, in Giro and Tour, he - if he´s fresh enough - might be needed at Vuelta, for Henao or Porte.

If Wiggins drops back to the cars to fetch bottles he won't be able to get back to the peloton to hand them out. Silly idea.

pfff, going back to the car for the water is for ******s, The Mighty Knight will attack and get the water from the car in front of them!

He needs to leave so the team can get behind Uran fully.

More rain forecast for tomorrow? 250km stage? I don't know if I can see Wiggins finishing that.

If I were wiggins, i would go home tonight. Rest, get some hot coco and soup, be ready for the TDF. People always say that to win GT not only you gotta have a good form but good luck on your side too. His luck seemed to have been denied by the mother nature and mother luck all week long. Compare to last year, he was coasting free from bad luck. Time for Uran to shine everyone?

agreed. perhaps the best time trialist in the world couldn't hold the wheel on the flat. he's obviously sick.

The organizers announced before the start that they would take all the gc times at the 3 km mark.

conspiracy.. conspiracy.. the organizer doesn't want wiggins to go home. they believe he is the one that attracts audience to watch giro this year maybe :p *I mean the island of Britain* If wiggins leave, bad for marketing.

It was meant to let the GC guys get out of the way in the final circuit. They wouldn't take part to the sprint anyway, so let's have a smaller peloton sprinting.
Seems quite straightforward.

That's not luck, that's him having a narrow skill set. A fair weather rider is a flawed rider, it's like Ryo claiming that Rujano would destroy everyone on climbs if he could avoid getting sick.

Did Nibbles fall recently, it seems he's missing a tooth, bottom right?

Probably from a bar fight. He’s built tough. Hard man of cycling.

I think Wiggo has 0 confidence even on the flat in the rain at the moment and is sick. Anyway Sky need to put full resources behind Uran now whether Wiggo abandons or not.

If you don't understand what is happening with good reason for years in Giro, Tour and Vuelta, you are obviously new to the sport.

I don't think the Lampre rider in the Wiggins group was Scarponi otherwise it would have been mentioned in the race report.

Did anybody listen to the Viviani interview on RAI? What happened to him, I don't speak Italian and my Portuguese wasn't enough to understand what he was talking about :)

There are plenty of sick riders who could stay in the peloton. His problem is that he can't corner in the rain and therefore expends too much energy accelerating out of each and every corner.
