Hopefully another fun stage with lots of action on the final climb. Around 6 km of flat after the top.

Will the big GC guys battle again?

first reply, could be a deciding stage to see who is in the game
too bad Scarponi lost big chunk of time due to the Blanco fall today

With Visconti evidently taking that GPM more seriously than anticipated, after taking the max for the 2nd summit today, if they bring back the bunch earlyish, expect to see him and Wauters sprint out the cat.3 summit, which ought to put them safe of whoever takes the cat.2 ascent.

I'd expect too much GC battling back and forth for Wauters or Visconti to contribute much at the summit of the cat.2 climb, but then again, if Visconti was there today and it's a group coming to the summit together again...

i wouldn't say too bad because he will be forced to attack
and there will be plenty of attacks from the favourites i think
expect vini fantini and garmin to go crazy

also 240 km is a good distance:p

Think it it be less interesting that stage 3, but hopefully we can remove some more GC contenders anyway.

About 100 riders @ +9 minutes, Sky can afford to give the right break lots of time and still place Sir Wiggo in pink on the 1st rest day.

Locatelli FTW.

It's going to be furiously climbed.
I expect some of the lighter climbers to lose time here and get eliminated from the GC battle.
Similar group like today to finish together.

If you watch the video, you can see Scarponi crashed by himself. I think it was Kruijswijk in front of him.

He is following Kruijswijk's line, when stupid K took the wrong line crashing, he break hard to cause himself to crash, then waiting the bike forever.

Big fight to get in the break tomorrow I suspect. If it goes all the way I'll go for Rabottini.

Scarponi grabs a load of brake when he sees Kruijswijk go down. The Blanco crash plays a big part.

Total Sky domination on that final climb, but maybe they will try to conserve and make others take the front, as Bradley shouldn't have much difficulty following on those percentages.

Lol, Sky is never going show their hand so early in the Giro.

First time we will see Sky properly in mode is after the ITT where Wiggins will be defending pink.

From now on till sunday, they will do absolute minimum, they will be visible obviously up front protecting Wiggins, but not much more.

If Paolini falters tomorrow then Wiggo will be in Pink-which is too soon to start controlling the race for him - even if is only for a couple of days before the ITT.

What it was good about today's stage is the forced selection caused by Hesjedal & Nibbs to establish early the real contender from the pretenders- so now we have the serious candidates unveiled & filling up the top 15, with Scarponi down & interestingly enough the re-appearance of EVANS, whose chances were diminished early by everyone.....

as for Stage 4: SCARPONI MUST ATTACK EARLY!! His move is going to set off a series of attacks that may put a lot of riders in trouble- so I cannot see SKY covering all the attacks from all flanks.....

They did far too much today already.
