If Nibali thinks he can take 3 min on a 'normal' Wiggins in the mountains...

He's no Contador or Froome in the mountains.

I think he needs to attack tomorrow but he prob won't do it. Let's save energy for the ITT. Put Wiggins in a great position

I don't believe Nibali is good enough to chose his moments to attack and finish it. He needs to try and do it tomorrow. If there was no Wiggo it would be completely different of course.

Then there is a risk to catch 5 min instead of 3 the day after tomorrow.

Oh yea because when Nibali attacks wiggins won't suffer right?

Henao and uran are there of course but nibali has some good support too and there's also hesjedal and evans for example and vini fantini.

Nibali should obviously attack, but it is true that a higher level of general fatigue will mean bigger gaps for the naturally stronger TTers.

To defend is always easier than to attack. In addition Wiggins defends sitting in the tank.

It would be great to see some guys attack tomorrow. I agree with lots of you that the stage really fits guys like Hesjedal and Nibali. They could make it tough for Wiggins. But it's not going to happen. This is one of those stages where people say, "You can't win the Giro on this stage, but you can lose it!" So everyone in GC contention will ride to not lose. It could be a pretty fun stage in its own right, though. I just don't expect any real GC action.

maybe Uran in yellow for 1 day heading into the TT ?

I think Paolini can handle this unless the bigs go nuts. He's just been chilling the last couple of days and not bothering with the sprints.

Isn't Pescara the hometown of il Killer? If so this stage is a personal gift from Aquarone.

Nibali is not going to win this giro by riding conservative.

And he's a GT rider, his recovery should be good. If wiggins can follow the attack, ok then a small effort, that's it.

Team leaders might be a bit cautious in case they tire themselves out before the TT but their team mates only have to beat the time limit on Saturday so they can put the hurt on and see what happens. If nothing else they might tire Wiggins out more than their own team leaders meaning losses in the TT are less.

Sunday looks a better stage for all the breakaway, making a difference to GC position shenanigans. Can't see Cavendish being dropped on this stage. I tip Goss to win.

I expect the highlighter to be throwing everything they got at this stage to take their first win. Di Luca to take it.

Also think the GC guys will try to make Wiggo suffer some. Could definitely see guys like Scarponi, Betancur, Santambrogio try to gain back time they lost or put some time on the other GC guys heading into the TT. Nibali I think will attack, despite what he said. The opportunity will come and it will be too good a chance for him to pass up.

He won't even try.
This is a hard stage. Sprinters could be gone 50km from the finish.

You dudes reading the same profile? This stage is easier than Milan San Remo. Power climbs with too long a run at the end for a break to last. Sky and Quickstep to make sure everything stays together.

Would love to see Hesjedal making some serious moves at the business end of this route. Attack like mad on the Cat 3 20ks out. There are plenty of lumps and bumps thereafter to make it a case of "every GC man for himself" right up to the finish.

Wiggins' two great strengths are the TT and his team. You can't do jack about the former, so do something about the latter.
