Very happy with the performances of Santambrogio and Pozzovivo! I expected they would have lost quite a bit more today.

Terrible first part, but the second part was on par.

First time sector beaten by Nibali. Second time sector beaten by Dowsett. Third time sector beaten by Evans.

Non of that is on par for the form he has claimed to have - not even close.

Anyhow, time to see how strong Astana are.

doesn't wiggins always have a relatively slow first part of ITTs?

I think he's usually "negative split" but today was just terrible with mechanical and bad descending/cornering.

As a spectator, this Giro is much more interesting at this point than it could have been. We all feared Wiggins would be 3 minutes ahead at this point. Now Sky will have to do something in the mountains. Perhaps we'll see a change of leader from them. The climbers will optimistic. Scarponi, who could have been out of it, will think he has some hope to do something. Hesjedal will have to attack. Cadel emerging as a dark horse. Racing!

Really really hoping that Wiggo has form. He will have to attack and if hes going well there could be some proper fireworks. If he hasnt got form it will now be a procession :(

Even discounting his lack of luck, he is obviously not in the same form as he was last season, whereas Nibali has definitely grown stronger. Even if he is able to keep up with Nibali on the mountain stages, I can't see him taking enough time on the MTT. I think the only hope Wiggins has is with Nibali getting tired in the final week. It's definitely advantage Nibali now but it's not over yet.

But he gained one minute on both Evans and Nibali didn't he?

About Wiggins being ill, that hasn't been the case, according to the sky management

Errrrrrrrrrrrrr they would say that either way unless they wanted to advertise that their leader was struggling. Would basically be telling other teams to attack them.

mmmm Ryder must of had some problems today :(
on the other side Cadel is very good, and his team does not have to control the race tomorrow and before the finish on tuesday.

So much for the first week not being important. Ryder could have been out of it altogether without the time he gained. Yesterday's stage will come back to haunt Wiggins.

Wondering what will ASIAN say? he told me Intaxausti is better than Nibali in ITT LOL

He normally is. It was an unusually bad ITT from Benat and an unusually good ITT from Nibs.

Anyway as a guy who picked Nibali for the win in every poll so far, I cannot be more happier at this unexpected success.

Can't imagine wiggins attacking much. He'll finish with, or slightly behind, Nibali on every road stage. And then there's the matter of the MTT..if he is indeed ill now, and recovers greatly, he could conceivably win the race there, but I bet against it.
