I think by the time the sprint came Sagan was more interested in screwing up Van Avermaet's chances, probably because he was already cooked and mad at everybody's lack of cooperation. If people keep making him do all the work, he won't have much of a choice but to try to do what he did today. Problem is, he can only succeed if it's at his absolute best.

It must be frustating for him, but coorperating with him means losing vs him.

He probably knows that as well.

I might have only seen the last 2km but I saw a whole lot of Gesink working too, and something tells me Gesink has done pretty much all the closing on Sagan before as well knowing his riding style

Yeah he did ride on the front in the last 1,5 k or so and he was mighty strong. But Sagan attacked several times in the last 4 k and had his nose in the wind all the time and it looked like the effort to close the gap to Terpstra cooked him totally.

Well, Froome certainly didn't have it today.

He's not a classics rider. He had great legs coming into LBL this year and was nowhere. Two days later he won the Romandie prologue.

You're kidding right? Today just underlines the fact that he has no chance at the worlds. His form is probably pretty good now but he has no 'punch' which you must have to win these races.

I wasn't saying that he will or will not win the Worlds, just that is his goal and these races are his prep. He showed today that he is returning to form and that was my point.

this pretty much. everytime we expect something it goes horrible wrong. So most of the time we expect nothing and just hope for the best

Yes, he can improve further and finish in the 30s position wise as opposed to the 40s. Do you not agree that his L-B-L result is a pretty good indication that he has no chance of placing well at the worlds, especially considering that he was clearly in very good form at the time?
