Well, I should have expected you to say that, but I completely and vehemently disagree anyway.

I'm sure Simon Gerrans would be remembered better than someone who won Roubaix 5 times. ;)

Unfortunately one of the major factors today is which clothing supplier a team has. There's little doubt that some brands have significantly better clothes for such weather.

I guess OPQS wasn't so lucky in that regard, they all seem to have frozen to death...

They are Boonen's own words, he has said it many times before.

And yes, he'd rather be sole record holder in either the Ronde van Vlaanderen or Roubaix and it would definitely be more meaningful in his careers' achievement than winning this race.

In Belgium maybe.

I love Boonen, but he whines too much. Really disappointed that he didn't bother.

Kwiatkowski abandoned too?
Not many Cavendish teammates left, is he going to blame them again?

No of course not, I value Roubaix higher than M-SR too, but having won Roubaix already so many times, once more doesn't matter more than winning a different monument at least once.
Boonen is already a legend of RVV and Roubaix, one more win doesn't improve that in any way imo.

Sole record holder in Roubaix with the nickname Monsieur Paris-Roubaix means more to Boonen than a MSR win.

To say an extra win in a Monument doesn't improve that is silly.

Whoever wins this,we shouldn't moan that it wasn't a real msr, just different. Boonen is no softie so his utterances should be given credence. That said, you have to roll with the punches.

Less than filling that hole in his palmares anyway.

But I know Boonen could appear on live tv strangling a baby Panda and you'd cheer about what a great pre-race preparation that is, so I'll just agree to disagree with you on this.

Indeed. The winning manufacturer should implement advertising campaign on this result. Can't recall so many freezing gesticulations within the peloton.
