I said it here Sagan's celebrations were stupid and dumb. That's why Cancellara rode MSR to make Sagan lose. He can't stand him.

I don't remember seeing Cancellara in an escape group and not ride. Either he had no legs (seems unlikely given his Poggio attack) or he rode against Sagan. Sagan was too confident that he could do all the work and still win.

Yeah but this is war Canc x Sagan in classics and Fabian doesnt stand a chance against this beast:p

The only mistake Sagan made was to sprint so early. Had he stayed behind Chava and waited for Ciolek or Canc to open the sprint, he would have won. I really do think that Sagan made a lot of right decisions today, although he didn't win.

Yeah, Sagan did very well, covered a lot of attacks. The biggest mistake he made IMO is being too confident.

That was like the final scene in Reservoir Dogs

Ciolek isn't a huge surprise imo. He was 1 of the 50 riders that is able to win this race. Not 1 of the big favourites, but his name did pass my thoughts a few times.

He always climbs well and he has good sprint. Well that seem like good characteristics for this race.

He just worked too much in the end without the need to do so.

Great finale.

The rivalry between Cancellara and Sagan is about to really start now.:D

cancellara cannot beat sagan even if he makes him to do all the work. LOL.
and i wonder if he will make complains to ciolek for not taking tours too.
LOL.

Do you think Ciolek would've done if Sagan had flicked the elbow? He didn't even ask anyone else to ride. Sagan led the whole descent across to the leaders, and then covered every move in the final. Perhaps slightly overconfident.

I think there's little doubt Sagan was confident, heck the last time Ciolek did something impressive I doubt anyone had heard of Sagan so I don't think he saw this coming. That being said I very much doubt Ciolek would've taken the lead if he was asked.

And I think Sagan took the lead in the descent because he was more confident than anyone else, I don't think that was a mistake, nor that he lost much energy there. If he made any mistake I think it was going to early expecting his sprint to be more than enough to win it.

I agree Cancellara just didn't want Sagan to win, and this will probably go on in RvV. But Cancellara, buddy, you sure you can afford this kind of shenanigans? You haven't won a monument in 3 years...

To be fair that's spot on. This is pretty much how he won the U23 Worlds.

Cancellara did have a go and it looked for a second like it might succeed as it took Sagan a long time to get to his wheel. He just didn't have the legs for another second attack, it seemed.

No he didn't. He had to work. And he was still the strongest in the sprint. Had he started sprinting the same time as Ciolek, he would have beaten him with half a bike length.

what a sad day.... Peter should have won...one day he will win it i am sure...if riders like Goss,Gerrans and even Ciolek won he must win it soon...i'm very disappointed...tired to see those riders winning

It's what m-sr is about last years. There are just loads of riders who can win it and if the big faourites are eyeing eachother to much it's not so big guy walking away with the win.
You know.... 2 dogs fighting over a bone and the 3rd dog.....
