Wasn't Mosquera DQ'd from the '10 Vuelta, or is this case still not closed? If Nieve doesn't finish tenth in a GT, you know someone will get a positive test sooner or later. :p That theory has been mentioned before on the forum.

Oh, that's right. I even checked on wikipedia but apparently didn't notice the line through Mosquera's name

Well, then the theory is confirmed!

I thought he is a sprinter or something like that... so is he similar to Kelderman? or really a pure climber?

He is indeed an all-rounder, just like Kelderman. However, he does not have his talent. He was introduced as Niermann's replacement when he signed with, back then, Rabobank.

Nice program, clearly focussing more on stage-races this year. Main goals in this period: Paris Nice + Giro

Classics are indeed too much because of the Giro/Tour combination plus he is more suited for stage races.

So Gesnik will follow the Wiggins "schedule" this year.
Riding stage races with a training stint in Tenerife in between.

He would be a contender for PN with many big names lacking, assuming he continues his new found ability of TT.

I also suppose he wont be riding the Dauphine or Suisse.

That seemed to me to be a way to avoid the usual hype. Which seems to have worked ;)

Who knows what he's capable of. No one expected anything from Kruijswijk either, the two seem pretty similar.

It's not so much the Wiggins schedule, as the best prep for the Giro. The training camp on Tenerife rather than Sierra Nevada is because of the possibility of snow there in April, I guess.

Yr, It should have been more like the Wiggins way. Not exactly the same schedule but taking a similar approach, not riding cthe Ardennes classics and focusing mainly on stage races.

BTW I thought Marc Goos is a Time Trialler. Is he a decent climber as well?

Yes he can climb, I posted that result somewhere above, where he followed Tiernan Locke on an uphill finish. Of course, that was pre-2012 JTL the Superman.

I actually think Goos is far more of a climber than a time trial specialist really. Not that special though. Indeed Kruijswijk is a good example, but it turned out Kruijswijk has great 3rd week recovery. We don't know that of Goos yet.
He could turn into another Theo Eltink but could also turn out to be great. We'll see, no pressure

Apparently Strade Bianche will be raced on Saturday, March the 2nd, while the next day will be held the Giro Del Lazio.
Weird, really.

Perhaps now, some of the riders who would go to P-N can race Strade before and have the Sunday as rest-day

it may be. But I think the main reason is to have Rome on a Sunday, which would lighten the traffic.

He has finished 4 GT's and ended up in these positions: 10th, 10th, 10th and...10th!

Anyway, worse riders have finished top 10 in the TDF (Lemevel, Zubeldia, LLS...). Always some lucky guy in there who's gained a lot of time from breakaways. Why not Nieve? I certainly wouldn't put money on him not being 10th, at least :p

Zubeldia hadn't finished in the top 10 of a GT in 5 years and had no results of note whatsoever in 2012 before TDF and the entire 2011 season. You can't possibly say you expected him to finish 6th

And I'm not saying he's bad, just saying that imo it would be a lot less surprising if Nieve top 10's the TDF than Zubeldia's top 10 was.

what the hell does that have to do with it? you literally said that worse riders(zubeldia your words) have top 10'd a gt, which is downright ridiculous considering zubeldia's palmares.

What about Henao? He will only help Wiggins and Froome, or he will have a free role in at least one GT (most probably Vuelta)?
