UpTheRoad said:Disagree. This has been a very good tour. The racing has been great. The only downside is that Contador hasn't got any form and the tactics used against Team Sky. The adage, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em," is being used within the race and it makes no sense to me.
Sky is in its element when there is really hard, really fast tempo riding. So what do the other teams do when they want to put pressure on Sky? Even harder tempo riding. No jumps, no changes of pace to break the Sky rhythm.
Yesterday was a good example. Lopez did his part and trailed off. Movistar moves someone in to take his place and the tempo remains the same.
Today is also a good example. Sky doesn't want to ride and Saxo wants to maintain its lead in team GC? Fine. Saxo should do a team breakout -- only for a minute unless they are let go (they wouldn't be).
Sky would ride after that.

The Hitch said:The Tour has been been decent on the mtfs and had 1 great flat stage but except for that an absolute snoozefest.
The vuelta will have 15 mtfs or whatever so no matter what happens it will almost certainly be a superior gt.
However the giro also sucked balls this year because all the mountains were cancelled.
But at least there they said - mountains cancelled - so you knew nothing would happen and could go do something else.
Here the promise was there. So the silence is more deafening.
