How much did you actually see over Alberto? It is possible that he may have just looked bad at the time he flew around that part of the course.

Spain and Portugal aren't the best time trial nations and Valverde is okay at best in such an event.

Valverde is a tremendous sprinter for a gt contender and has won prologues. Prologue winners and sprinters are just as important to team time trials as tt specialists.
