Enough kilometers to catch the front group after climbs which should split the peloton.
Intermediate sprint should be taken by the front group, though.
Cavendish, if he isn't too much affected by yesterday's tumble and chase (during both stages).

What a great example for a moderator to be setting. Slagging off another website.

If you look at the code for the image, they have not actually watermarked the original image, the watermark is dynamically added as the file is hosted on their server (firebug is your friend). So the watermark will appear automatically on any files on their server. You are using their bandwidth on a 2mb image file, they watermark it. You can't really make it out but it says "image hosted on" in small letters.

2500 views of this thread, the image is 1.66mb - Thats 4gb of bandwidth you have used from them. And you are complaining about a watermark

Cyclingnews don't allow hotlinking to their images at all, velorooms add a watermark. Looked at the original thread they put the image in and it clearly marks the image as (C) ASO.

It is simply not necessary to be doing that on this forum. Velorooms can do it on their own forum, if they so please.

Would be a good tribute by Sky if they ride hard enough to put EBH in yellow, no real pressure to defend it but a nice touch for someone who has seemingly gone all in to become the best domestique and probably not fufil his massive potential

seems quite immature and unprofessional for a mod here to be mouthing off like that about another site...or especially another person intended

Meanwhile a mod over at velorooms was mouthing off about him. But this is off topic, can people take this discussion to the mod thread from now on and just discuss stage 7 here?

Oh excuse me...I meant to preface my comment with "this is off topic"

What would it take to drop Impey? Could he be dropped on the last two climbs, or will time gaps in the final sprint be necessary?

Stage 2 was raced really hard for the most part and Impey wasn't dropped then. Unless the GC boys decides to race this stage from some way out (this will take a miracle), the South African will hang on imo.

A break with some serious riders could potentially be a real threat to the jersey, but I think the break will be small and soft.

I don't see Impey being dropped on this stage unless it gets really split up on the first 2 categorised climbs if one of the GC guys attacks. This is not going to happen. So, Impey stays in yellow, I reckon.

Janez Brajkovic on the many crashes in the first week: "Sorry to say that but its the GC teams that make this s...t" He's got a point #tdf

im praying for a break and some random continental dude for the stage. Kristoff if it is a bunch sprint.

Sagan the biggest favorite tho, seems like the stage can be too hard for some sprinters but really hard to tell as always with these kind of stages.

Have there ever been considered some rule that everyone within the last three kilometers (or so) in sprint stages gets the same time so the CG guys can step down and relax if they dont want to contest for the win?

It's a trite point, but this is one of those stages that depends entirely on how the riders ride it.

For instance, if a dangerous break gets away with someone who can challenge for Yellow, OGE have shown they are capable of really drilling hard at the front of the bunch. If that happens, it's goodbye Cav et al.

I understand the point but you'd still have the same push just a little earlier, also Brajkovic crashed outside of the 3km.

Brajkovic wasnt a GC contender though. But would make sence with a 3km rule, cos while there will still be a GC puch till then the insane sprinter push in the last 1-2 km wouldnt collide with the 3km GC push as it does now.

No he wasn’t and I’m not saying that was the cause but the GC riders won’t be moving up alone, also the sprinting teams are often making moves prior to the 1-2km point.

It would I think be beneficial but much of the danger comes down to the closing route itself and also if they are chasing someone in front.
