Got to love race days that don't go below 3000m :D Pretty sure it tops out higher than US Pro challenge despite US pro challenge touting itself the highest pro race in the world.

well it is legal to hold now in CO so they ought to be

Of the four in the break, Tilegen Maidos (Continental Team Astana) is highest on GC, 15'28" down. Still not virtual yellow! #ToQL

As a refresher, today's #ToQL stage 5 profile. Definitely suits a breakaway with 14mins advantage... pic.twitter.com/73OobF3m0d

Would have been abandoned already if it was the Giro.

Lol, I still recall the big boys from Belgium bailing out of MSR this year..

Softness everywhere these days.

Good decision to keep the race going.

Stage result:

1 POLIVODA Oleksandr Atlas Personal - Jakroo 30
2 GOESINNEN Floris Drapac Cycling Team 18

Break takes it, but with how much? Awaiting gaps.

Not a lot, it was down to 2mins or so with not long to go. They were both well behind on GC. Modolo won the sprint.

yep, almost nothing in the end:

1 POLIVODA Oleksandr (Atlas Personal - Jakroo) 5:41:20
2 GOESINNEN Floris (Drapac Cycling Team)
3 MODOLO Sacha (Bardiani Valvole - CSF Inox) 0:40
4 RICHEZE Ariel Maximiliano (Lampre - Merida)
5 SCHWARZMANN Michael (Team NetApp – Endura)
6 POZZO Mattia (Vini Fantini)
7 DE LA FUENTE RASILLA David (Konya Torku Seker Sport)
8 FöRSTER Robert (UnitedHealthcare Presented by Maxxis)
9 AVERIN Maksym (Atlas Personal - Jakroo)
10 METLUSHENKO Yuri (Konya Torku Seker Sport)

Glad the break got the win in the end after the "strike action".

Frösi won some minor races on the NRC Circuit last year. And generally his role at UHC is more of being the road capitain / teacher to the younger sprinters (Keough brothers) - not winning for himself.

Anyway it's a miracle that he's still there and winning.

Earlier this year he was on the brink of losing his leg after a bad fall followed by a knee injury followed by a bacteria infetion in the knee. He wasn't able to train or even get out of hospital bed for weeks. His career seemed definitely over. But you can't keep such a tough guy from racing.

Btw, he's the only pro I ever visited at home. ;)

More German sprinting power:
