Let's see...

Mathias Frank - Not a real bet at this level.

Roman Kreuziger and Rui Costa - Allround guys likely to suffer in a 30 kms climb.

Bauke Mollema - Puncheur. Lacks endurance, not a stage for him.

Dan Martin - Uphill finisher. He doesn't have the engine. Lost minutes with the favorites in the last kilometers of Port Ainé (Catalunya)

Thibaut Pinot - The only real climber of the Top10. Great recovery at this part of the race and good resistency and climbing skills. So he is the man for the win in spite of the descent.
Are you just trolling or are you serious?

the descent is not too technical, but I think he'd still need about ~half a minute to everyone else for being able to win the stage. I don't think he can do that.

Gesink lost ~20 seconds in the descent when he won the stage, and I would say Pinot is even worse.

Gesink lost far more, he had 1'22 at the top, he kept 42 seconds in the end

he had 1:05 over a group including Carrara at the top of the climb, Armstrong and so on followed closely

You have to remember that with a cushion of that size, a rider isn't necessarily going to take a lot of risks on the descent, but I more or less agree with your '30 second' number.

The problem isn't so much the descent, in terms of losing time. It's the long false flat after the top. Gesink had a group of riders chasing him, it's only logical they made up a bit of time.

Tres hombres tienen unos segundos de ventaja. Son: Vladimir Gusev (RUS / KAT), Tosh Van der Sande (BEL / LTB) y Reto Hollenstein (SUI / IAM)

hopefully this won't be the breakaway

Back in the group already.

Coming up to a 3rd category climb. Break may form there.

This race is baffling, although I guess after a rest day everyone is keen to stretch their legs.

Does [Swiss-]German use capital letters for all nouns. I never knew that.

"Nach der Abfahrt ist das Feld in vier Teile aufgesplittert."

German does that in general, not just Swiss!
