I'm surprised Nibs was less than a minute slower than Tony Martin. Very strong TT.

very consistent with his previous results and he is improving all the time

Martin was poor so it's not a great benchmark. Nibali put 23 seconds in to Roche and 27 in to Valverde, finishing behind Pozzovivo.

It's really not very impressive. Not bad, but nothing to shout about if people thought his TT skill was a weapon which could make a serious contribution to him winning the race.

Horner +2'54, into 20th.

He should have spent more time in the aero bars.
Podium bound, maybe 2nd if he doesn't pay the price (age and race legs).

Horner is in line with expectations. He sucks against the clock. What we've got is a very close Vuelta though. Nibali, Roche, Valverde, the old man... it's going to be exciting.

Wow the gc looks more like a road stage finish. Nibali then like 3 riders within 10 seconds. another 3 riders a minute back within 20 seconds then another 3 riders a further minute back next to eachother.

Nice win for Cance, his form is looking increasingly better for worlds. And glad to see Nibali back in red. Now I'm off for a cross ride.

Realistically it will be between Nibali and Valverde. Basso still has a chance for third place.

Cancellara: "I didn't look at Martin's time. In a TT, you have to focus on yourself and the race".

So much for the "advantage of knowing the best time".

Valverde should fade in the third week, it is hard to imagine Tour has no effects on his Vuelta

Spartacus Rocks :)

Lo Squalo back were he belongs and this time it's time to carry it on in. Astana should be up to the task.

Contenders really reduced now.

Pretty sure he was doing exactly that at the Worlds 2 years ago when he crashed into the barriers!!

This is cycling. "Should" and "will" rarely go together.

When was the last time Basso rode away from the top GC guys in a grand tour? His 2010 Giro win? He's got over 2 minutes to make up on Roche and Valverde to make the podium. All I've seen him do in recent years is struggle to stay in contact on the big climbs.
