The season needs to be extended well into the worlds weekend, I mean why stop the show now. Therefore the fight for rainbow will come down to Froome vs Horner.

I do hope for a fight between Cancellara, Voeckler and Sagan however. Add Nibali for a bit of spice.

I would prefer states to names either. For me it is either Sagan or any Italian but Nibali. The one who will not be marked and slip through the Cance radar.

The Canc radar doesn't bother with what's happening behind :)

Either Nibali or Cance, I'll play to my avatar and say Nibali. Sagan to take sprint for final podium spot. And hope the Colombians can perform, the ones at the Vuelta didn't show much. Hopefully their form is better then what their results show.

Seriously though, Sagan vs Cancellara I think. Hard to tell who will win. Nibali will play a big role in deciding this though

Can't see the winner coming from Italy or Great Britain or Colombia. Cancellara has a big show and I get the feeling that Gilbert even though he has lacked results all year, may have timed his form for this race. Just a gut feeling. A month I would have said he can't win. GVA has been in good form and will be good for Gilbert. A few others like Dan Martin, Sagan, Evans and Gesink have to be considered.

Nibali never won a Classic race, or performed well on a WC, where are guys like Valverde, Purito, Gilbert?

Nibali was 2nd in an LBL he almost won. And he onced bossed Lombardy but again went too early and blew himself up. He can do really well here.

Valverde, Rodriguez, sorry, I think they are too tired from the double Tour-Vuelta to do anything. You could already see Rodriguez in Worlds last year he sucked on a course good for him (cauberg..)

Gilbert, meh, he won a mass sprint in the Vuelta but still didn't impress uphill. I doubt he can follow the best in the final

Cancellara. The 29th of September has been on his mind non stop the moment he stepped off the podium in Roubaix. He's been preparing for it like a maniac.

Everyone will look at Cancellara and Sagan obviously. Canc has the experience and I consider it more likely that he will keep his act together and chose the right moment to attack. He's used to the wheelsucking. Meanwhile Sagan.. not so much. He might lose his cool and get fed up with everyone marking him, ending up with nothing, 2011 Cancellara-style. The signs were there in Quebec already.

Anyway, I can't wait for it. Bring it on.

A week later he won Lombardy;) But the combi Tour-Vuelta is perhaps to tough, i agree with you.

Nibbles is a good classic rider, but does not have the explosive attack or the sprint to finish it off.

I still think that the riders who can be expected to contest the win in the Ardennes and at Lombardia should be considered the central favourites, if they are in form. Purito, Gilbert, Martin, some of the Colombians, etc. Sagan too, but only because he's a freak.

Completelly different races. Quebec was his race to lose the same as MSR. He has nothing to lose in WC and he will enjoy it. I have a feeling he will play the same game as Cance in MSR: "I do not care loosing as long as Fabian won´t win". ...and somebody else will be laughing at the end. ;)

I hope it's just someone who deserves it, no wheelsuckers/last 500m sprinters like Piti or Purito

Yeah, Cunego was a real attacking rider;)

Purito won Lombardy thanks to a solo effort, and won stages like Orio (Basque Country), Digne-Les Bains, Pla de Beret after attacking from far out. Is it so difficult to understand the difference between wheel-sucking and use your strong points?

Some riders who could perform in Liege and Lombardia never bother with it. They might care more for worlds so should be considered. Cancellara is a classic example. Never tried Liege yet strongest rider in Mendrisio.
