Read the thread title, it's clearly between Nibali and Contador. The poll and the thread in which the poll is, pretty often have the same subject. Valverde is likely the 5th best GT rider this year.

Stuff the Nibali - Contador argument Froome would/could have beat them both he took 10 secs on Contador in Dauphinee and drived the whole climb to win a stage. And Froome would have improved at the TDF just like he did in 2013 the rest is history but first two stages in the Dauphinee Froome had the edge on Contador. All Froome would have had to do is just be as good uphill.

It would have been great battle though i also think Nibali would not have been crushed big time like usual he would have gave a good fight we would have had the best TDF for years i think. The podium would have had the best three GT riders of last 5 years.


This Vuelta Froome has been so wierd yet he as not been crushed one bit i have never seen a rider get dropped and comeback, he as been the king at limiting losses lol. We don't see that everyday the way Froome has been climbing do we? He had far more accelration at the Dauphinee.


Contador should get the edge though out this argument if he wins the Vuelta the guy has basically won the WT. Nibali has the prestigious win but Contador did not do the TDF and he dropped Nibali in the Tour remember, Froome could have done the same.

Now that the Vuelta is all but sewed up I will cast my vote. Alberto overcame tremendous adversity even to make the start and to actually win against the best field assembled this year says it all. That his major rival wasn't on his best form means little as neither was Alberto. A gloriously hard fought and well earned victory to Alberto Condator. Chapeau Sir!

Lo Squalo I love you truly but he dropped you in the Tour and would have made up that 2:30 somewhere because that is what the man does.

Quintana seemed to be a bit below Contador. See the time trial for instance. He did have a legit show for sure, though.

On the two multi-mountain stages Contador gained close to a minute on Valverde, while Valverde is usually stronger at the Vuelta. So there.

Very fair comparison since Nibali abandoned the Giro with a broken leg.

It is equally rediculous to base ACs and Nibalis abilities to climb in the tour this year on a 2(?) km long climb, where AC sprinted and took 2 sec, but it is a point raised in pretty much every discussion on this topic. To find an answer is really hard and for all I know AC might have won this tour. Most of us Nibali supporters just find it hard to see what seems obvious to you, and that is that AC is far superior to Nibali in the mountains.

Nibali nailed his preparation, arrived in the form of his life and anyone is free to think that he could have defended his 2.5 minute advantage in the mountains.

However, this year Contador is on fire and had the form at the Tour to do it. He has demonstrated a class throughout the entire season that shouts greatness.
