I like sprints with a little elbow. The fighting for position and moving from wheel to wheel (or barrier to barrier for some :D) is the most fascinating part of the sprint.

Agree, this was a great sprint with drama today.

Nice win for Modolo. At nearly age 27, he's ready to beat Merckx Tour stage wins record.

Yep, it was awesome to watch Kittel/Demare and then the Lampres moving late for the kill, Kittel blocked and Demare too gassed by his battle with Kittel, great sprint with everybody deep in the red after a very hard and fast pursuit during 20kms. Awesome stuff.

Well it was a nice and spectacular sprint, because they all knew what they are doing, put a newbie or god beware some GC rider in between and you have a mass crash... Still nice sprint

Just put Farrar in there and you will see 10 broken collarbones in a moment.

Riders crashes and break bones in the neutral zone. Accidents can happen everywhere in cycling. I thought the run in today was fine.

I guess Kittel could try and win 3a and hammer hard in the TT.

It is Terpstras to loose. I would put Demare and Durbridge as next in line, both were strong (top tenish) on a similar distance in TA this year

True.
Kristoff and even Steegmans are capable of riding a decent TT too. Any of them would get all bonus seconds in the morning, they might be able to defent their lead. (how many bonus seconds are there still?)

Durbridge vs Terpstra?

Easy Terpstra. Durbridge TT's lately haven't been that impressive.

And Terpstra is on some phenomenal form now. Must crash or be delayed to loose it now.

Comparins the head-to-head ITT's of Terpstra and Durbridge they are pretty much equal over this distance. Don't see Durbridge taking that much time.

Actually the sprinters could still be a threat if they take more seconds. Kristoff, Demare, Steegmans can all handle this distance

Stage 3a is a morning affair:

Starts 9:25 (CEST) and made for sprinters. Kristoff nailed the stage last year:

Modolo came 2nd.

But Kittel gotta be p!ssed off by now.
