Who the **** is Gert Jõeäär?
He's not even that young apparently (26, nearing 27)

Could be the case of wind affecting the outcome.
25kph isn't a mild breeze.
Yet, 7:53 is very fast even with the wind.

Directvelo said the wind was not the same the whole time, that may have influenced the whole race I guess. Still, crazy time by Joeaar.

Jõeäär my inspiration, you are the song I sing
Jõeäär what makes me happy, you are my everything
Jõeäär my daily sunshine, you are my ev'ning star
Ev'rything I'd ever hoped to find, that's what Jõeäär
Ev'rything I'll ever want for 'mine', is what Jõeäär

He's quite famous.

Stage 1:

Unless a team steps up big times, this looks like a bunch sprint.

18 ZABEL Rick (GER) BMC RACING TEAM 0:00:24,77

Even if he wins two stages, additional bonus secs will be needed on the road to win the race overall.

Anyway go Le Bon.

Nice result for Le Bon and Dillier. Haven't even heard of Jõeäär (awesome name, grammar/font wise :D), strong win for him.

I didn't have a closer look at the parcours today, but he also won that awesome cobbled city prologue in Talinn last year. Good to see him building up on that and winning vs a first class competition today

As Estonian I know Jõeäär pretty well so no massive surprise. Maybe didn't expect him winning the prologue but expcted him finishing in top10. He's always been pretty good TT rider. Was 13th (early starter) just behind teammate Taaramäe in Etoile Besseges ITT. Won first edition of Tour of Estonia thanks to very strong ITT which he won. Always showed strong results in National ITT even before turning pro.

In juniors he was as talented as Kangert and Taaramäe but after joining his first amateur team outside Estonia he felt homesick and returned home shortly. In 2010 he tried again and joined French amateur team CC Villeneuve St. Germain. In 2012 he got 7 stage wins (one pro win) and last year he got his first pro contract with Cofidis. Partly cause of good results in amateurs and partly thanks to Taaramäe who praised him last year saying that he has very good motor and if he loses few kg he could become very strong ITT and classic rider.

Mechanical, bike change, back of the field.

I was wondering what happened him and then seen his comment on twitter. Total downer.

He said today he thinks he can win the U-23 Worlds at the end of the year.
