It was not a spectator. He was there with a flag, so working for the Giro I assume.

Freaking dangerous place to stand though. Middle of the road, straight after a corner and on a downhill.

Haven't been paying total attention for a few km, British Eurosport guys certainly haven't mentioned it at all. Rob Hatch has just been talking about Pantani

I am aware of that. I just think in the last week Uran will be heavily reliant on Poels in particular.

yes and guess who he was reliant on in the first 2 weeks?

That looked really really nasty. Definitely a marshall, not a spectator. The moto braked but only a few metres before impact, and it was high speed part of the road. Must be some pretty serious injuries (at best). :(

Nothing was shown on tv when the peloton passed there indeed.

Edit: or maybe I missed it?

There was definitely someone lying on the ground on the left hand side before the narrow right turn.

Yes, there was someone laying on the ground but they didn't show much.

Fortunately they tried to show as little as possible, but a road that's half blocked is hard to miss. There was some van-like car visible (I assume it must be the ambulance) and quite a lot of action behind it. Presumably medical personnel and unfortunate bystanders.
