You'd be surprised how often at the Giro everyone goes insane, then they slow down for the last hour and most people say 'well, that was boring' because they only saw the final climb

Reminds me of the 2008 Giro when Contador was dropped over 100ks from the finish, he was ripe for the killing, and everyone gave him the Giro by slowing down and letting him recover for the finish
Yes. Really the only way to get the complete picture and experience the genuine flow of events.
I remember following that stage via live ticker on my phone and was wondering if the barbecue I was enjoying was better than the stage.

Regarding today's stage, I fancy Cataldo's chances. He's been winning the stages from this position before.
... And he has Eddy.

Dottore looks relaxed:cool:

The pace from the break is massive:D

Who knows how much time he'll put into the others today? Pozzo is on fire, easily dancing on the pedals. I hope the weather stays in his favour.

When the number of riders gets down to a certain number, does the team lose a car from the convoy too?

IIRC from the tour of 1995 (where Lotto was down to 2 men at the end), it does. And not only a team car, but also staff. (1 team director instead of 2, less mechanics, soigneurs,...)
