anyone expecting someone to do much better than today or much worse based on very different stage route?

i think Duarte and Niemec won't be so good, its almost classics final.Really steep so it suits Pozzo but Evans has experience with short sharp clims too.
Pirazzi is a decent outside pick methinks.:)

just seen the full highlights.

zardini was extremely impressive,if he has the same legs on bondone, he will win overall easily. pretty epic win
wiggo surprised me in a good way
cadel also very strong and a fighter as usual. today i think he will take the win.

Looks a good battle for gc here.
Very much doubt it will happen but id like to see wiggins try and get in a break. If not today then maybe give some more time away and go for it tomorrow

Hard fought break action. Solid group with some GC ambition.

It will be a tough day for BMC.

Horrible work by BMC letting that break go. Any teams not represented that will want to work?

lol this will be painful. number of riders dangerous for gc like rosa there and almost all teams in the break.

Some interesting riders in the breakaway alright. Four of them are within two minutes on GC.

Pimienta (NetApp, 157) 17th at 1'04''
Pardilla (MTN, 127) 28th at 1'37''
Rosa (Androni Giocattoli, 73) 32nd at 1'46''
Monsalve (Neri Sottoli, 136) 35th at 1'55''
Taciak (CCC, 117) 47th at 3'09''
Cataldo (Sky, 62) 48th at 3'20''
Zeits (Astana, 6) 64th at 5'48''
C. Quintero (Colombia, 96) 73rd at 8'01''
Malori (Movistar, 24) 74th at 8'06''
Caruso (Cannondale, 43) 83rd at 9'08''
Piedra (Caja Rural, 106) 89th at 9'33''

1. Monsalve, 2. Cataldo, 3. Pardilla
Bunch only something like 2 minutes behind.
