well yes but that wasnt really what i was getting at!

in fact i suppose the question could be widened to 'has a team ever had no rider complete any stage race', by which i mean riders dropping out individually thru injury, illness, fatigue, or whatever

Team Sky Vuelta Espana 2010

Illness in the team, riders as well as members of staff got ill early on. By the time the team abandoned the riders were all more or less ill, but they withdrew from the race to attend the funeral of soigneur Txema Gonzalez

Augustyn DNF stage 3
Swift DNF stage 3
Fletcha DNF Stage 7
Löfkvist DNS Stage 8
Carlström DNS Stage 8
Gerrans DNS Stage 8
Kennaugh DNS Stage 8
Nordhaug DNS Stage 8

QS with Cav would never have allowed a break to take a sprint stage:D

My intial feeling was to lay Bouhanni because it may be a difficult finish. Never. Ever would I have thought a break would have won today. And the bookies have cleaned me out today.

However, as you suggest, and hopefully I read you correctly vecause its not a reference to Cavendish but the TDF generally. That you make. There is not a cat in hells chance that this would have happened in the TDF.

Welcome all responses from veteren bloggers

lol. if the break gets caught on a flat stage and there's the usual bunch sprint its 'boring', if the break doesnt get caught its a 'fix' and still 'boring'!!!

you guys are hard to please
You are absolutely right. I am glad somebody else can see the obvious collusion between the Italian teams, motorbikes, organisers and even the helicopter!

Great post.

are Orica still in this race or have they pulled out already with fatigue?
i thought it'd be in their interests to take up the chase

I watched the stage last night and I feel like Canola isn't getting enough love. He was on the attack early and never missed a turn, he was the one not giving up when the break looked doomed, he attacked again with 3km to go and had little help from then on. Nevertheless he sprinted from 250mt out and got the win. By far the most deserving winner for this stage.

If it was Voigt doing this (but even Belkov) we'd still be talking about how mythical his effort was. Instead all I have to read is this bullcrap about race fixing from those sneaky Italians. Gimme a break.

Also, I'm baffled that even a remote hint on doping is strictly forbidden here, but when it comes to race buying/fixing people can say whatever they want.

Canola was the strongest man in the break:

What would the Commissaire have done if the peloton hit the hail full on?
